Hi , would like to consult on what would be the best way to use a topographic map offline ( with contour lines ) .
In Locus currently to navigate using a map vector road offline downloaded from bbbike (http://extract.bbbike.org/) whose base is openstreetmaps.org , and I download MapsForge OSM format ( .map ) .
What I would like is to add a map of contour lines? I downloaded files heights (HGT) , but I think only used for drawing with shadows.
Thank you very much .
Greetings .

Hello, I omitted the country :).
I'm looking for topographic maps of South America, particularly Argentina and Chile, especially in the central area (I'm from Mendoza).
In bbbike the zone is:
http://extract.bbbike.org/?sw_lng=-76...
Greetings.

Hi,
I suggest to try Locus vector maps. They are available for whole world, contain contour lines and some additional elements. Hgt files which you mentioned, can be used for hillshading or for elevation information of created points and tracks

Vector map has to be generated with contour lines. So there is no trick how to join only contour lines to the map downloaded from extract.bbbike. This is question to administrators of mentioned service.
Anyway there is workaround that enables use vector map with “only_contour” theme as map overlay for online maps. But this is not what you’re looking for.

If you want to create a toporastermap, you can do it with an older version of MOBAC
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lnex1wtfks0...
Try mapsource "Google Relief" ore "ArcGisTopoMap" and atlas format "RapsSQlite"
For example i captured an area west of Mendoza

First of all many thanks Petr and Wolfgang for the responses, frankly are very helpful.
Petr, I tried taking overlapping one-based maps offline and placed above one online and it worked great, but not what I want because I like to have both offline, but ... is a more than acceptable and it works very well. Congratulations for that.
Wolfgang, I will try MOBAC, had installed the 1.9.14 version, but could not find any data source that could give me cartographic maps of the area. I copied the origins of the version you gave me and I could see the maps. Excellent!
Thanks again, greetings from Mendoza.
Edit:
Add OSM cycle map:

Hi, if anyone is interested in the subject ... may be another way to have contour line maps offline.
Basically there are 3 steps:
1. Download the height data (files hgt) ()
2. Processing to generate a map in OSM format (phyghtmap, http://katze.tfiu.de/projects/phyghtmap/)
3. Make it / sa MapsForge vector map format (osmosis)
Then one should use overlay maps.
Greetings.
PS: I have not tried yet :)
