Accent piano and iOS

Just tried to use Accent as a MIDI controller with iOS GarageBand and I have noticed a quite recognisable latency. Someone suggested me to reset the app - it just slightly helped to reduce it but not completely, and just for a few minutes, and then it came back to delay. Is it possible to fix it? Also, is it going to be the same on a PC or Mac, or it's just an iOS issue? Or is it just a GarageBand bug? I tried to use it with a few less known synth apps - and it was even worse - some notes would just get stuck etc.. Reason why I'm so concerned is that I was planning to buy a quite expensive Cubasis app, but now I'm gonna think twice, at least before I figure out what's going on.

It can sometimes be your buffer settings, or possibly the driver that you may be using. I'm not sure about what drivers can be used for iOS, probs stuck with whatever is already default. Maybe set you sample size to like 512, at 44.1 khz, that might be ok.

For myself I'm using laptop/PC, so I just run my midi keyboard USB and use ASIO4ALL in my DAW. I don't have much experience with Apple products, but I hope this helps.

    Hi Dee,

    Thanks for posting!

The Accent is class-compliant, but it has not been tested and approved for support with iOS. Nevertheless, issues with latency are very rarely caused by a MIDI keyboard. Often they're related to things like buffer settings or system optimization, as Stimpy Gilford mentioned. With iOS, I find that bluetooth headphones/speakers are often the culprit.

When using with an iOS device, you also want to make sure that you are using a powered USB hub and an official Apple Camera Connection Kit, but even then I can't make any guarantees with this board. You should at least not have any trouble like this on a PC or Mac.

Let me know if you have any questions.
