I’m pissed off

AXIOM 49 2nd Gen with Logic X - Direct link? hypercontrol? STATUS?!?

I am so, so, SO incredibly frustrated with this. I have installed the axiom bundle as advised on another thread, yet my axiom key commands are literally all over the place.

Faders are not assigned correctly, key commands to open the mixer do not work, and i am absolutely losing my mind with this.

WHEN will you have a direct link for logic pro x?

M audio's legacy support is absolutely ABYSMAL. I will never, ever, ever purchase a midi controller from this company again as long as i live. shocking.

  • Hi Russell,

Sorry you are having trouble with that.

Can you walk me through what you did to install the file?

Make sure you got this file here:

Axiom mkII - Logic Directlink Bundle

    and did this:

    - Unzip the folder and drag the Axiom.bundle to your desktop
    - Find Logic Pro X in your application folder
    - Right click on the icon and select "Show Package Contents"
    - Open the Midi Device Plug-ins folder
    - Place the Axiom.bundle file in this folder.
    - Restart your computer and open Logic

Open Logic, find your Control Surfaces > Setup. Click on New at the top of the window, select Install, find your M-Audio Axiom and click Add. and that's it! You should start to see control. Just make sure that your Group buttons are pressed and illuminated to be in Directlink mode.

There are some funny Logic things with control surfaces if you have more than one. For example, I think only the first control surface in your setup window will have fader control. Though, if your Axiom is sending a similar CC message as a fader assigned to another control surface you may start to see some strange fader assignments. If you have other control surfaces try deleting them for the time being.

Hope this helps! Let me know what happens!

    HI Corey

Thanks very much for the reply, it is very much appreciated.

This seems to have partially solved the problem and there appears to be some functionality restored to my axiom. there are a couple of issues that i am still having, i hope you don't mind helping me a little further.

    1) i am working in a logic pro x project with 32 separate tracks. the faders F1-F8 only seem to control the first 8 tracks in the project. Should the fader assignment not re-set to the next set of 8 when i select track number 9 in my project? currently it is not doing so and the only tracks over which i have volume control are 1-8, If there is a solution to this then please do let me know

    2) you mentioned that the Group buttons should be illuminated; the group button beside my pads does not respond when this is pressed. is there any reason why this may be the case?

    3) when i used to use my axiom with logic 9, i would press "inst" to bring up the selected instrument in the project, and by pressing again to toggle inst mode off it would bring the mixer up automatically. this does not seem to be the case. how would i assign a key command to bring up the mixer on screen?

Many thanks again for your time and patience - it is highly valued!!

  • Cool! We are on our way!

Going forward, this may be helpful to have:

Axiom Directlink for Logic Pro - User Guide

    Axiom MKII User Guide

    1) For the faders, you'll want to go up to Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Preferences and check off "Control surface follows track selection." Now your track control should shift by banks of 8 when you select a new track. So when you select track 9, your controls will shift to tracks 9-16. You should see a colored bar to the left of your track numbers that should indicate the currently controlled bank.

    2) The pads don't always have a directlink function, so when that's the case, the group button won't light up. That may be discussed in the manual above or in the Axiom User Guide. You can still set these to cc values and manually map them to functions if you'd like.

    3) I don't recall this being a function of the Directlink to automatically pull up the Logic Mixer Window. Is that what you are referring to?

You can map a pad or the instrument window to the Key Command "X" which will show/hide the mixer. This is the only way I can see this happening unless it was specific to Logic 9.

Let me know if this helps and if you have any questions!
