Axiom air 49 and Reaper

Hello everyone, I am having a Problem getting Axiom airs functions to work with Reaper,I've read step by step posts and watched numerous tutorials and learned alot, but I still can't get any of the FADERS and knobs to control any of my plug-ins set it up with DEXED VST and assigned the knobs with midi learn, and I'm definitely seeing the signals on the tracks, but is still not moving them or affecting the sound at all, I know I'm close, but still no cigar, and I've found out that I won't be able to use the hypercontrol features, which is a huge disappointment, but until I get a different controller I'm going to continue to try and get the axiom air to do what I need, any help would be great, thanks !!

  • Hey Salvatore,

    Thanks for posting!

We can verify whether your Axiom's faders are sending the correct type of MIDI data to your computer with MIDI monitoring software. A MIDI monitor will show you all the incoming data from any MIDI controllers or MIDI interfaces that you have connected to your computer.

For testing MIDI devices on PC:
    MIDI-OX

This video will get you set up quickly for Input Monitoring in MIDI-OX:
    Monitoring MIDI Input with MIDI-OX

For testing MIDI devices on Mac:
    snoize: MIDI Monitor

Select the Axiom as a MIDI input source in the monitor and send some data with its keys to test data transmission. If you see data appear in the input monitor window, the controller is sending MIDI data to your computer.

Now, let's test the Axiom's faders. With HyperControl mode OFF, send some data to the MIDI monitor with the faders - you should see MIDI CC values populate the input monitor. If you do see this, your Axiom is working correctly and will simply need to be configured properly in REAPER. If your Axiom is not sending MIDI CC from its faders, you can reassign them to do so. Please refer to page 7 of the Axiom AIR's user guide to learn more about assigning parameters to the Axiom's controllers.

I understand you are trying to map controls in DEXED. I am somewhat familiar with that plugin but I am not sure that it support direct MIDI mapping. You might need to map parameters through the host software (REAPER) in order to do this. Please refer to REAPER and DEXED's documentation for more information.

I think this thread on REAPER's forum will help you assign faders in the software:

How to midi map faders in Reaper's mixer

    I hope that helps you!

  • Hello, Nicolas I am currently running Windows 10,and I was wondering which version of midi ox should I download at first was worried because you're site didn't say that it supports windows 10, but then I saw people post on YouTube that it does work, so I'm happy about that, I didn't even get a chance to try the tips you've given me yet, but will tomorrow, please get back to me when you can and thanks for your help, Sal
