Axiom AIR Mini 32 Driver Info

Hi All,

The Axiom AIR Mini 32 is a "class compliant" product that does not require the installation of any additional drivers for most workflows.

-If you are using the Axiom AIR Mini 32 with a Mac, there is no additional driver installation needed at all. No Mac drivers will be developed because they are not necessary for full operation of the product.

-For Windows 32 bit & 64 bit workflows, the Axiom AIR Mini 32 runs successfully, in most workflows, with no driver installation needed (in class compliant mode).

-Installation of the Axiom AIR Mini 32 Windows 32 bit & 64 bit drivers add some additional capabilities over class compliant mode, such as 1) Ports are properly identified by name in applications 2) The driver enables the use of Hypercontrol mapping, for DAWs that have an available Hypercontrol compatible profile for the Axiom AIR mini 32

-For users running the 32-bit version of Windows, the drivers are available now and can be downloaded here.

-For users running the 64-bit version of Windows, the drivers are available now and can be downloaded here.

  • Just heard from Ableton, and the arrow keys are working as designed. Up/down moves tracks from, and right/left changes banks. (I guess they assume that you're using the computer navigation keys for navigation in session mode.

They have other functions for devices, but I'll wait for the documentation.....

  • Here is a summary on how the control surface works in Live with the Axion AIR
    Mini:

    Axiom AIR32 Mini

    - Transport: Stop, Play, (Global) Record - as always
    - Pads: DrumRack support with Pad Bank 1 playing the lower 2 rows
and Pad Bank 2 playing the upper 2 rows of the visible pads
    of the DrumRack.
    - Encoders: these can be in 4 different modes (toggled via the button
    labeled with the 'H')
    1. Volumes: controlling the volumes of the track bank (banking see below)
    2. Pan: controlling the pan of the track bank (banking see below)
    3. Inst/FX: controlling the selected device's (the one with the hand)
    parameter bank (banking see below)
    4. Off: encoders are sending on the other, non-ControlSurface port
and can be used for manual mappings
    - Arrow buttons: these follow the mode the encoders are in
    Volumes/Pan: Down/Up select next/previous track, Right/Left select
next/previous bank of 8 tracks, center button toggles Arm state of
    selected track
Inst/FX: Down/Up select next/previous device in selected track,
Right/Left select next/previous parameter bank of the selected device,
center button toggles On/Off state of the selected device.

  • How disappointing. What has happened to M-Audio? They used to be such a GOOD company. I was all excited about buying a Axiom AIR Mini 32 AND a Axiom AIR 61, but I will NOT be buying them now. I wanted to use them in my studio with Logic Pro X (on 10.9.1) but apparently M-Audio can't figure out how to get HyperControl working. What good is a controller if it doesn't.... control anything.

Will give my money to another company now. Probably will get a Novation Impulse 61, at least their auto mapping now works with Logic Pro X. How M-Audio has ignored support for the family of Axiom AIR controllers makes me leery about buying ANY M-Audio product ever again. The M-Audio of days past that we all used to love would have had this issued solved (6+) months ago. Good luck to those who have already invested in a Axiom AIR controller. Hopefully M-Audio will soon 'wake up' and actually start supporting your product, but don't hold your breath...

    • First of all. What link? I got now new laptop and i would like to have mapping avaiable on ableton. I cant even download hypercontrol and try fight with it again. Cant you just make some program wchich will work? Its problem for you or what? bought piece of s** and cant do whatever i want to with it. COngratulation.
    • It is baked into Live's software. In Ableton go to PREFERENCES > MIDI SYNC and select the Air Mini. Ableton will do the rest for you.

  • Hi I am Trying to get it to work for Reason 5, But it is say port already in use.

What Do i do ? I saved money from 6 months and i got Axiom Air .

    Gosh this is really bad.
    • Hello Daniel,

      Thanks for posting.

Are you using Windows? Which version?

Windows has a tendency to not release a driver when a previous program is using it or had used it in the past.

Reset your computer and let it finish booting. Open Reason first; no other programs. Same message?

When are you receiving the message? If you could outline the steps you take to setup the controller in Reason, that would help.

Let me know and I'd be happy to help!

  • Hi Dan,

    I Am using Window's 7 64 bit.

When I open Reason it doesn't identify my the keyboard,

There is a pop up and it says

IMIDI inputs used in the previous session could not be found.Open the preferences dialog and check your midi Settings. This opens even before the software could open.

Next i click okay & opene up my preference setting.

Next I clicked Auto-detect- surface (It doesn't add or find my keyboard )

so i add it manually but cant find my model

then i click other model and try to add it it doesn't work

it says port in use when i try to add it in MIDI input. i can see my Axiom AIR Mini 32 there but it just doesnt work.

Kindly Help. And thank you for your reply .

    Regards
    Daniel

    • Hello,

Dan's out today but I'll let him know of your feedback. Happy your up and running!
    • Daniel,

Hey there! I'm sorry, I didn't see the response back here. Glad to hear it's working!

As far as Reason setup, I'm not super familiar with the process. However, I know it uses preset "Codecs" which can be imported or which can be modified/created by the user.

Surprisingly, I've not seen a video that seems to give a walk through general enough that you could apply to the Mini 32. I do see several articles online, though. Might just take a bit of reading to get a grasp.
