Bluetooth MIDI for Code Series??

Anyone try to use a Bluetooth MIDI device like the Yamaha BT01? Cannot get it to power up after enabling MIDI control (edit+ctrl assign+midi out). Lights up and connects without drama on my friend's Yamaha 88-key weighted board to free OSX keyboard app

  • Hey Sirhc,

    Thanks for posting!

When enabling the MIDI Out port on your Code, be sure to only press the Edit button followed by the Color/MIDI Out key. The Code's display will read MID ON when the port is enabled. I would recommend testing the MIDI Output port on the Code with a MIDI DIN cable to verify that the Code is sending MIDI out properly.

If the Code is sending MIDI data from that port, we it is functional and this issue could be relative to the Bluetooth adapter in some way.

If you are having trouble sending MIDI data out of the Code, test the MIDI cable you are using with a different cable. If you are still unable to send MIDI, this sounds like it may be hardware related. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Make sure to reference or link to this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

    • Hey Sirhc,

The Code's MIDI inputs and outputs are just standard MIDI DIN ports which should use pin 4 for power. If the MIDI ports on the Code hardware send MIDI data to an external MIDI device via a standard 5-pin MIDI DIN cable, the ports are functional. I don't have any additional information regarding the Code's MIDI ports but I can tell you that it's certainly a controller worthy of gigging.

Let me know if you are unable to send MIDI data out with a cable and we can take a closer look!
    • Nick, I ave been using the Code 61 via USB midi which works fine But I am also having the same problem with the Code 61 and MD-BT01. The MD-BT01 works fine on my Icon Code MI5, Arturia BeatStep Pro, Korg Kronos, Behringer, BCR2000 etc. I have tried with the Code 61 powered by USB and external supply, interestingly the DIN port fails to drive my synth modules (Wavestation SR, Roland SV-5080 and Yamaha TG500. I have metered between pins 4 an 5 on the Code 61 MIDI out (and the MIDI in just in case) and regardless how the code 61 is set there is no current output. The MIDI specification states 5mA current loop signalling so I would expect to see a current flow. I must therefore conclude that the MIDI out port on the Code 61 is non functional. How would you suggest I proceed?
