I’m frustrated

Code 49 doesn't want to work

I recently bought a Code 49 after 3 months waiting and now i'm getting crazy because any of my DAW's can recognize it. I use Pro Tools 10.3.5, FL Studio 11.1 and Ableton Live 9.1. I follow every detail of the instructions in the help you gave in other posts and still wrong.
In Pro Tools when i try to select Code 49 in pheriperals menu the DAW die and i have to force the exit and reset the computer.
The computer is good and i'm sure that it's not the problem.
I have the axiom air mini 32 since 2013 and Hypercontrol works very well but this keyboard controller doesn't want to work :(
Please help and sorry for my english.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting.

What operating system are you on?

    What exactly is not working?

Do you get consistent response from a midi monitor?

    Windows: MIDI-OX

Open MIDI-OX with all other programs closed. In the Options>MIDI Devices section, select your controller ports from the MIDI Input menu. Click OK.
Now MIDI-OX will simply list all incoming MIDI messages. This will help confirm if the controller itself is responding properly.

    Mac: MIDI Monitor

Open MIDI Monitor with all other programs closed. In the "Sources" section, check the boxes for your controller's ports.
Now MIDI Monitor will list all incoming MIDI Messages. This will help confirm if the controller itself is responding properly.

Test in Ableton for now so that we can confirm the board is working properly and make sure that you follow every single step in this guide:

If you are still having trouble, use a different USB cable.

  • Hi Corey and thanks for your attention.
I'm using Windows 8.1 64 bits with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as soundcard.
In Pro Tools and Ableton when i configure the keyboard in Midi section the programs hang. In FL Studio i do not get any response.
But i also have a Axiom Air Mini 32 and works perfectly with the three programs mentioned above.
I'm going to test with MIDI-OX and Ableton right now and i tell you but i havent another USB cable.
    Thanks a lot!

  • I'm testing MIDI-OX with code 49 in my four USB's and most of the time i obtain this result:

    I obtained this rarely:

  • I’m sad
Hi Corey, I follow the guide to use the Code with Ableton step by step but it's still not working. When i choose the input in MIDI Sync, Ableton stops instantly and can only force it to close.
    I don't understand anything

  • Thanks for the notes. Make sure that the output port in Ableton is set to Port 3 as well. In the picture it's still on Port 1.

For Midi ox, that error will typically appear if there is other midi software using the ports, so make sure you have closed any other software. This could also be related to an unstable connection with the keyboard.

I'd say it's pretty likely this is just a bad USB cable and the keyboard just isn't connecting properly. Try a different USB cable and different ports on your computer and see if this follows. If you are within a warranty, our support team may be able to help you with a new cable:

  • That is exactly the problem, when i choose the output port in Ableton (Port 3) the program hang and i only can force the exit.

I'ts strange because when i test with Midi Ox i am not using any other midi software.

It seems that the problem is in the keyboard or the cable because i test with other USB's and it's still not working.
I bought two weeks ago, i will try made a change for other unit or i will have to refund it.
A lot of thanks with the help and tomorrow i will call my distributor, i'll tell you when i know something.
    Thanks!
