Code Series Preset Doesn't Save Zones?

I Press the Zone key, set a zone or two, it works as expected and then I save rhe current Preset #1. If go to another preset, make some random changes to Zones, and then go back and load up preset #1, it doesn't bring back my zones that I saved! I would think the zones are a basic part of what's being saved in a Preset - what am I missing? Why aren't the selected zones being saved with a Preset?

  • Hey Buzzripper,

    Thanks for posting!

The Code series does retain the zones you have selected for presets you are storing.

Just to be sure the presets are being stored correctly, you should be doing the following:

    1. Add zones to the preset you're editing

    2. Push Edit

    3. Push the C key associated with the Store function, the display will read STORE then TO XX (where XX represents the preset number that the current preset will be stored to)

    4. Select the number of the preset to which you want to store (either scroll through with the up and down directional buttons or input the number with the keys representing numbers 0-9)

    5. Push the rightmost key in the keybed to Enter and store the preset

After doing so, the buttons associated with the zones you have selected will remain illuminated while scrolling through the presets.

Let me know if you have any trouble with this!

  • Hi Buzzripper (and Nick),

I'm using Code 61 (with lastest firmware, Black edition with homemade screen print above first 25-keys for EDIT mode).

For me, zones are working as expected, even scrolling through presets. The only thing isn't recalled is "ZONE" button state - always remain on/lit or off/unlit, doesn't matter the selected preset - "ZONE" button acts as "global setting" IMO like velocity curves, global MIDI channel etc.

The only bad is "Bank Select/Program Change" when you enable any particular zone! (I've mentioned this as reply into another Buzzripper topic, though).

    Cheers,
    Dominique.
    • Just to clarify, Dominique is correct. The Zone button itself will remain on or off until it is toggled by the user.
    • It's true, Nick, only the user can toggle "ZONE" button (like global settings), state changes aren't reflected into SysEx dump, FYI.

But really the problem isn't here: as indicated initialy by Buzzripper, and by me (bold characters just above) about detrimental "forced" Bank Select / Program Change MIDI events on zone activation (by toggling on z1~z4 buttons, alone or together), by changing MIDI channel for active zone(s), or simply when toggling - manually - the "ZONE" button (both on and off) - any active zone is impacted, it's not good.
