Code series USB Midi to 5 Pin Din Midi ISSUE

Code61 USB MIDI TO 5 PIN MIDI DIN!!
Hey guys same question but hopefully looking for a better answer.
I am trying to run Ableton Live 9 to send midi into the code61 then into my outboard analog drum machine.... this does NOT work, I have tried all the possible ways. Highly annoyed as the USERS MANUAL IN BOX STATES THIS CAN BE DONE!.
1. Why does this not work on the "FULLY FEATURED" CODE SERIES?
2. Can this be fixed in firmware update?
3. When will this be fixed?

  • Hey Chris,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having some trouble with that! I checked it out on my end and I did experience similar behavior. I will look into this further and pass this along to the M-Audio development team. I will keep the community updated with any information I receive regarding sending MIDI data from the computer through the Code's MIDI Out port.

    Thanks for letting us know!

  • Hi, this issue is still present. I have a Code 61 and it is not possible to send MIDI out from the DAW via the five pin MIDI din.

The impact is that you can't automate external instruments with the Code series. You can play the keyboard live, but not send sequenced MIDI clips.

Like others I have tried turning the MIDI on and off using the Color/Midi Out key, and have tried all available Code MIDI out ports in combination. The manual suggests Port 2 should work. It doesn't.

I have used a third-party MIDI out device to ensure that the issue is not due to settings in the external instrument. I have also tested the my Code 61 with MIDI-OX and it successfully logs MIDI out on Port 2.

Is this a recognised issue with the Code 61? It seems to be a large problem, and there are many threads devoted to it on these forums.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Nick D, in addition to my above post. This was a response provided in another thread. Is this correct? It's not what the manual says, as posted by the OP.
