Code49 Black wont connect with pro Tools due to "Power Cycle HUI" error code

Good Day all, I recently bought a Code49 Black and I am trying to load it into pro tools.

The thing is, I dont know where to find a support code to make a formal support question after I registered. Hopefully I can just get it solved now.

I received the "pro tools is unable to communicate with hui. Power-cycle HUI and check its connections" an error code that keeps on occurring upon keyboard set up. I have looked up possible solutions like "running as admin," "disable USB power saving" and made sure that "midi thru" was enabled. It still does not work I followed the other steps as shown on the Pro Tools set up and it still does not work. I have also tried using my device with Sibelius 7 and it works fine. What else do I need to do?

  • Hey Lethfresh,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having some trouble with that! If we know that the Code is sending data to other software, it's functional, so that's a good thing! Make sure the Code is not already being used by another MIDI application when you launch Pro Tools.

It looks like this message can be disabled by editing some settings in Pro Tools - at the very least you can prevent the message from appearing. Try doing the following in this Sweetwater article:

Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI. Error Message

If you are still having some trouble, I would recommend reaching out directly to Avid for software support for Pro Tools:

    Contact Avid Support

    I hope that helps you!
