Code61 stops communicating on its own via USB

Code61 frequently stops communicating for no reason. I have a 2015 Macbook Pro running Mojave OSX. My setup is very simple: a Code61 plugged into my Macbook via USB, running Logic Pro X. Latest drivers on the Code61.

I'll plug in the code61 and power it on. Logic will recognize the device and everything will work fine. After awhile, the code61 will suddenly stop working (i.e. no data being sent to my computer), but the lights on the Code61 will remain illuminated. The only way to make it work again is to unplug the code61 and power back on, which fixes it maybe 10% of attempts (sometimes takes many attempts to get it to send data again).

This issue started popping up over a year ago at annoying but manageable intervals (every 30 mins or so) but has since worsened to make the code 61 completely unusable (stops working roughly every 15 seconds). I've tested multiple usb cables and all the ports on my computer, those aren't the issue. Is potentially/likely an issue with the USB out on the code 61. Any available fixes (or replacement parts?)

    Thanks for posting!

    I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble! From your description it sounds like there may be an issue with the data pins of the Code's USB terminal. I would suggest testing the controller with a different computer. Does it still have connectivity problems?

    If so, I recommend contacting the support team for further assistance. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.
