Connecting M-track 2x2 to iPad ???

Hi All,

We have an m-track 2x2 which works fine when connected to an iMacbook pro through GarageBand, to convert my wife's keyboard sound when on stage when playing in a band, but would like to connect to an iPad or better still an iPhone to make transporting kit to gigs easier.

has anyone managed to do this or are there any guides on this kind of set up at all? Happy to install another app to do the same if required but have got all required sounds etc set up already on the laptop, so this would save doing it all over again if possible.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hey Dean,

    Thanks for posting!

The M-Track 2X2 is not officially supported with iOS devices. The 2X2 series does require drivers for Windows operating systems but is class compliant with OS X. Like OS X, iOS is developed by Apple but this does not indicate that the 2X2 will be plug and play with an iOS device. If you do want to attempt to connect these two devices, you will need a means to convert the connection - the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit can serve this purpose. Just keep in mind that this audio interface is not supported for use with iPad or other iOS devices.

    Hi

    I have a M-Track 2X2 (C-serie) and a gen3 iPad Pro 11".

I can totally connect the M-Track to the iPad Pro. It works as good as on my MBP and it's plug and play. I can therefore output on my monitors and I'm also able to record MIC/Guitar on GarageBand, BeatMaker 3, etc. (which is awesome).

Direct connection through the USB-C cable works but I'd suggest using the provided USB-B cable instead. This way you can also charge the iPad and connect additional devices via a hub.

    Regards,

Edit: forgot the M-Track came with 2 different cables.

I never used such devices for recording... first time !

I want to buy it instead of Apogee Duet 2 because of huge price difference , what do you think?

    • I just got a new audio tascam 16x8 for my church and the maudio became my portable interface it actually does connect need the camera connection adapter and have it powered but what is cool is that I actually used a portable battery pack to power it..... it's completely wireless and portable and garageband immediately recognized the 2 inputs
