I’m frustrated

Cubase 9 and Oxygen 61

After installing all the products, getting a virus and a Windows 10 update that made old programmer unusable, I have finally gotten my Oxygen 61 (I presume MRK IV) to work with Cubase 9...to some degree.

The keyboard functions and I can finally hear instruments when I touch keys. I have also learnt how to sine dials to parameters on the VTS instruments...cool =)

But what I am having trouble with is finding the Xpand2 and Twist programms that I installed many times.
AND
Getting the sliders to function as track volume controls (yes, I assigned it as a Mackie Controller, but it doesn't work)
AND
of course the play, stop and record buttons to function as they should.

Thanks in advance for those who can help

  • Hey Barry,

Thanks for posting! It sounds like you've just about completed the setup - just a few steps to go. The following section of Cubase's user guide will help you add plugins via Cubase's Plugin Manager:

    Cubase - Plugin Manager

Regarding using the Oxygen's faders, the version of Cubase you're using will not use DirectLink like prior versions of the software but the Oxygen's faders will still send unique MIDI CC messages that can be assigned in the software. This video should help you assign controllers to the software:

DAW 101 - Assigning Midi Controller in Cubase

For more information about reassigning faders and other controllers on the Oxygen, check the Advanced Keyboard Functions section of the user guide, found on page 5.

    I hope that helps you!

  • Thanks for that Nick.

Twist is unavailable but the other 2 are integrated into Cubase.
Using the generic controller on Cubase actually allows you to control volumes with the slider. Bonus. I will experiment a little more as there are still a few little bugs. (possibly related to the recent windows 10 update)
