DeBreath simply does not work

Hello, I can see that DeBreath IS detecting breaths. However, no matter what I do it doesn't actually mitigate the breaths at all. Clicking Breath still plays the audio, yet the waveform is very clearly detected as it highlights the portion of the waveform that has the breath. I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out why in the world it doesn't work. Worse, when I accidentally exported a stereo file, the left track was JUST the breath! I mean... should it be called REbreath?

  • OK I figured this one out, in case someone has an issue in the future. In Audition, when you set up a multitrack session, you have a few parameters. Later, you can't change these (unlike many other programs, such as Premiere). I had been using a project in stereo, even though the tracks weren't in stereo, the master bus wasn't, the output wasn't, etc. I didn't realize it until I set up a totally new project and ensured IT was in mono -- because there's really not a coherent way to even check this in Adobe Audition (absolutely brilliant UX /sarcasm).

Anyway, since DeBreath is mono-only, it was actually outputting the breaths on the right channel and the untouched audio on the left. That's... odd behavior, but even mixed down to mono in the output (which Adobe has a bug where those output setting don't stick, and they've had this bug for a few versions now lol) the breaths aren't removed.

Chalk it up to me being a dingus! But hopefully if this vexes someone else they'll know what's up.

    Hey Victor Agreda Jr,

    Thanks for posting!

Happy to hear that you resolved the issue already! I'm not familiar with this particular Waves plugin but I'm sure this will help a Waves user down the line.

    Thanks again!
