Eighty Eight Ensemble Extraction Error - Not enough free space

Anyone having problems unzipping/extracting the free Sonivox Eighty Eight Ensemble software that comes with the new Keystation 88? I keep getting an error message that says I need an additional "11.9PB" space even though I have 250+ GB free. The "PB" is not a typo. I have tried extracting on a hard drive with 750+ GB and get the same error message. HELP! I am running Windows 7 SP1 64-bit system on a Dell PC.

  • I got the same error message on Windows 7 so I tried on a Windows 8.1 PC and received an error message that the zip file is invalid.

Sonivox Tech Support made several attempts/suggestions on how to resolve this issue. None worked, and I am still waiting for them to respond to my email containing screenshots illustrating the problem/error message. I became impatient with their failure to promptly respond to the screen shots email and began exploring options on my own.

I have successfully unzipped the Eighty Eight Ensemble download/zip file using a free program called 7-Zip. I placed the zipped download file on my desktop, right clicked on it and chose "open with" from the drop-down window. I then told it to use 7-Zip instead of Windows Explorer to unzip/extract the files. It worked and placed all the files/contents in a folder on my desktop. I then moved the unzipped/extracted folder to my hard drive and followed the install instructions in the user guide. I was able to complete the installation of Eighty Eight Ensemble without further issues. When I inserted it into my DAW, I did, however, have to use the Eighty Eight Ensemble's browser function, and tell it where to find the samples.

I am now a happy camper. Hope this information helps others who may be experiencing issues similar to the ones I experienced.

  • I also had success by downloading using Chrome instead of Firefox and then using
WinZip. Note that neither WinZip nor 7-zip worked with the Firefox download so download must have been corrupt. And finally Windows Explorer's unzip would not work on any of the downloads (Go Microsoft).

  • Hello Larry and Thomas!

Larry, I had actually got with the support team to assist on your case after seeing your post, but I totally forgot to post back here as well.

This was an odd one, as it seems only some unzip programs are seeing two of the installer parts as 6.5 PETAbytes!!!

As you noted, 7-Zip did it on Windows.

On Mac, the default "Archive Utility" will do the same thing. Another popular utility for Mac, Stuffit Expander, is the fix there.

No problems with the download or installation after that over here. While I'm happy we're now up and running, I'll get this to the M-Audio team to spare having to figure things out to begin with!

Apologies to everyone for the difficulty!
