Hi,
after updating drivers for Fast Track Pro to version 6.1.10 a firmware upgrade occurred and now the interface doesn't work anymore, not recognized by the PCs (windows 7 or XP). AVID doesn't respond for this problem caused by their upgrade, not by me!
Any idea? Thanks
Massimo

Hi Dan
thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately AVID wrote that there is nothing to do, of course they don't recognize that the problem is due to their upgrade 6.1.10 while on the NET there are several testimonies equal to mine. They told me to send the interface for repair and they asked me $100, excluding transport from and to Italy of course. They are miserable, with that money I have already purchased one audio gear of another brand and clearly I'll never buy again a M-Audio product and not even all the musicians I know to whom I explained what had happened.
This is the proper way to lose customers...
Kind Regards
Massimo-
Sorry for the trouble Massimo. Thanks for the feedback!

Same crap happened to me. And the phone number above is no longer working.

My m-audio fast track pro does not connect to computer after firmware update to 6.1.10 driver. That is my computer does not recognize my M-Audio Fast Track Pro. This is after firmware (1.0.2) was updating when my fast track pro is still on, and I realized it immediately and disconnected.
How do I reinstall the firmware in the interface itself? Can someone help me resolve this issue? Please it's been months this thing has not been even detected by device manager...

Dear Vincent,
as you can see in my previous answer there is nothing to do.
If you live in USA, you can send your Fast Track Pro to AVID and have it serviced.
The cost is 100 bucks.
Regards
Massimo -
-
That's ridiculous...really? So because of a firmware issue I have to send it to get fixed for $100? That's absurd....
-
-
Yes, really absurd. This is AVID! I was forced to throw out a fully functional interface due to their error which they assume no responsibility. No more AVID products in my studio.
-
That is the nature of all avid products, dear friends don't waste your money by buying avid products.......They only need our money nothing more than that
-
-
Unfortunately! I would have known before!

I also have exactly the same issue as many have described here. My Fast Track Pro was losing audio from time to time, and I had to reboot it maybe once a day. After the latest firmware upgrade, audio will work maybe 10-30 minutes at a time, before I have to reboot the card again - often also causing a bluescreen.
Windows Vista x64/Core2duo, Windows 7 x64/Core i7.
I have tested the card with several hardware configurations, and with several M-audio drivers, and practically the unit is pretty much useless. The working solution I've got, is uninstalling M-Audio's own drivers, reverting to the default drivers by Windows. For ASIO, I use ASIO4ALL which works nicely, but does not allow multi-client audio. The downside is that I can't use a sequencer and listen to any other computer audio at the same time. But the card works. It's ironic and sad, that only 3rd party drivers work perfectly, and Avid/M-audio's drivers don't work practically at all.
I've owned the product for some 10 years now, and the driver situation has always been pretty much horrible with this product. Also never going to buy another Avid/M-Audio product. What a shame. -

I picked up a FTP today and a pop-up informing me about a firmware update was displayed on the screen. Without to know about the problem, I updated and the same type of problem started to occur. The audio part works normally, but the MIDI part is blocked, without action.
I solved the problem by uninstalling the driver 6.1.10 and installing the 6.0.7 (for Windows). I believe the problem is an incompatibility either the firmware 1.0.2 and the driver 6.1.10.
Please Avid, the solution is simple, only verify what is the compatibility problem and correct it in a new driver.
If anyone wants to try and to confirm, post the results here.
Greetings and good luck.-
pleas how did you do that or how to uninstalling the driver 6.1.10 and installing the 6.0.7 ??
pleas i need it -
-
With the FTP connected to the USB port I uninstalled the 6.1.10 driver in the normal Windows uninstall way.
After I disconnected the FTP from the USB port, rebooted my computer, installed the 6.0.7 driver and at the end of the driver install I connected newly the FTP to USB port.
Work normally after this procedure. -

Downgrading back to previous drivers has not helped in my case. Audio Out usually dies every 10-120 minutes with every official driver version.

Dear Massimo AVID in italia means AVIDO which is an nomen omen... i will keep looking if another solution is available.
by me the light of the overdrive stay steady on after a while and when i try to disconnect the m audio or reboot the pc freezes and or gives a blue screen. so i hope someone more into the PC world wants to help us musicians ... -
-
if u or anybody else have a solution or find a site ( i found some but i am scared to download miraculous solutions ) so let's keep posted here or on my fb gianni nanni You recognize it from the red pic"keep calm and gianni nanni" because there are quite an amount of gianni nanni and u can post the wrong one.
-
-
Dear Gianni,
thank you for your reply.
AVID is dead for me, no more AVID and M-AUDIO products in my studio, as I said previously.
At the moment (sadly) there's nothing to do to repair the interface.- view 1 more comment

Hi,

Ho provato a chiedere aiuto ma è davvero difficile essere in grado di avere risposte all'interno di questi siti web.
I spent the afternoon to sign up to compile the various requests for a device by 100euro but I can not even send because there is always something that is wrong.
there is a simple email to the technical support that does not face questions from the FBI? Thank you -

try to put the transfer rate to 4096 and disable the network drivers. it should work let me know.

I'll be interested to know if this works. My fast track ultra wont work either since upgrading my Macbook Pro to 10.11.2

you can test it yourself and inform us about results . i have a win 8 and i am actually test it on it. is working better with this change. let us know

When I try to load my M-audio Fast Track Ultra 8R a message comes up and says 'This control panel must exit because the Driver Interface process was not found. If this error persists, you may need to reinstall the driver package'.

This is how companies loose customer loyalty. Here's what I'm going to do since M-Audio refuses to be responsible and pass the buck to AVID which wont do anything either. I'll just buy my audio products from other companies.
Now when I think M-Audio I think getting screwed! -

Same issue with my m-audio Fast Track Pro here... More then a decade of flawless operation, and then updated to FW 1.02 and only troubles after that. The sound gets more messy every 5 minutes, and about 15 minutes the output stops. Only disable/enable the card might help for another 10-15 minutes. I red all the forums, I estimate up to 500 users experience this problem, it makes me very, very, angry.. I have a lot of M-audio products here, it makes me SO mad if I look a them... I saw some users that claim that an external regulated 9V power supply solved the problem, and other users that claimed disabling their Intel network card solved the problem. The PSU advice is the only thing i'm also gonna try sooner or later. But a fact is that it worked always, and was hardcore reliable on my previous 7 computer platforms... And now with that 1.02 FW it's useless, and so is the brand m-audio for me...
-
Hi Jalnanus,
I'm on exactly the same boat here and getting desperate.
Did you have any success using a PSU? -

Same issue: I've lost FTP after 6.1.10 update. Windows not recognize interface. I'll never buy another avid\m-audio product; a lot of customers lost their interfaces after this update. Actually my fast track pro is used as paperweight. Congratulations Avid!

unsoldering chip, and flashing with tl866 programmer (or other).

@ Орлов Николай
Can you please explain how to open the case and how to identify the EEPROM?
thankz -
-
Is the U15 8 pin SMD chip, an 24LC64 eeprom.
To open the case simply remove the six screws on the bottom and remove the bottom of the case, gently remove all the knobs on front panel, push in the six switchs and carefully remove the front panel releasing the two side restraints and the three on the top. Now you have to unscrew the nuts that stop potentiometers to the metal plate, remove the buttons lids and pull the metal plate. Now you can carefully separate the printed circuit board with the XLR inputs from the one below. -

@Орлов Николай
I must thank you very very much, now my FTP works again.
Best regards

Reprogramei a EPROM Não Funcionou gastei dinheiro atoa
Não façam isso, não funciona. a placa não funcionará mais! -

@Lucas Muniz
I can assure reprogramming the eeprom, if THIS was the problem with the FTP, works like a charm. My FTP was damaged during drivers 6.1 installation and my systems not recognized the interface,
Maybe you did something wrong or the eeprom was damaged or the problem is something else with you FTP. -

8-Lead PDIP instead of 8-Lead SOIC (SMD) device:
As I see the situation, IC No. U8 and the EEPROM on U15 are connected in parallel. Instead of using U15 we could use U8. Does anybodey knows if thios is correct?
The great advantage is: I canb use an socket with an DIP8 IC instead of the SMD device. It is eassier to programm and I can change it in future easily.
The pictre shows the two positions. The SMD U15 is unsoldered.

Yeah this company is bullshit I was buying all m-audio but no more.... Like a year after having my speakers one side went out and is quieter than the other (you can barely hear it) and now I tried updating the drivers and whatnot and It doesn't work. I absolutely hate this company. And all they have to say is we don't support those anymore you can send it in for 100+ dollars when I can just buy a new one for 200$ just a freaking SCAM!!! Shit poor company! Lost my business forever.

Hello Guys Im having the same problem with my FTP. After the 6.1 update any of my devices seem to recognise it, nor Windows or Mac.
Did you manage to make it work or downgrade the firmware?
Thank you so much for reactivating this thread.

Thanks for your reply @Massimo.
To see if I get it right. Do I have to Unsolder the U15 chip, Flash it with a programmer and put it back?
Can you kindly explain how to do it? Thank you so much for your time and knowledge. -
-
Hi Jonathan,
yes, it's correct.
Or you can remove the SMD eprom, program a DIP eeprom and insert it in U8 place, better with a socket so you can remove/add easily.
Let me know if you need more help. -

I think the problem is the firmware 1.02 update contained in 6.1 drivers that freeze FTP during installation.
Can you confirm you did this update?
If so, the only way to solve is to rewrite the EEPROM, read the above posts. -
-
-
-
Pra reescrever a EEPROM tenho que desmontar ela ? Agora não tenho certeza se atualizei o firmware,

Hi,
my repair was ### SUCCESSFUL ###
Now my audio interface works again. It is recognized by windows and I tested it with Audacity. It works !!!
Grat Thanks to Massimo !!
What I did:
- unsoldering the SMD IC (place at U15)
- integrating a DIL socket (IC-Sockel, 8-polig, superflach, gedreht, vergold. for 0,19 €) at place U8
- programming the IC 24LC64
- adapting the new IC (24LC64-I/P EEPROM seriell 64kb DIP-8 for 0,51 €) on the socket
- READY
costs: 0,70 EURO !
