Firewire 1814 and Mac Mojave

My latest iMac has Mojave 10.14.12 installed, it shipped with HighSierra. It doesn't see my M-Audio Firewire 1814. Is there anything I can do to enable this other than downgrading to HighSierra?

  • Hey RBS,

    Thanks for posting!

The FireWire 1814 is a legacy product with limited available support. This interface was last supported on OS X 10.7.4 and it is not supported for use on Mojave or High Sierra. You can download the last available driver for the 1814 from the following link:

    M-Audio FireWire 1814 Driver (v 1.10.5) - Mac

If you intend on using this interface, I would recommend using a supported operating system. If you are looking for a more up to date interface, please see the link below:

M-Audio - USB Audio and MIDI Interfaces

    I hope that helps you!

  • Thanks Nick for your reply. Each time I try and load the drivers the installer comes back and says there's nothing to load. When I take a quick look at the package everything seems there. Ive downloaded the driver package a few times and tried to open and install everything seems ok as the steps are gone through but each time it comes up the installation has failed as there is nothing to install.

  • Its quite upsetting that one has to turn around and purchase a new interface, I (and I bet heaps of people out there are the same) am not in the position to do this as I've updated my Mac and funds are short. Using an older OS is impossible with the latest iMac. Why would I want to go backwards? Makes a person feel shafted when your hardware becomes redundant due to an update. Many of us save hard for what we get and aren't in the position to purchase replacements. Maybe manufacturers should have a trade in option allowing us to be rid of the old redundant unit with a serious discount given for keeping with that manufacturer and updating. So what if its a "Legacy" unit, makes no odds out here.
