Having a new Trigger Finger/Arsenal problem??

Having issues running arsenal stand alone for the first time...after all these years.

When setting up the TFP, I go into i/o to select my active midi inputs. The options are there, but theyre grey and when I try and click on them, nothing happens. According to my PC, the trigger finger is functioning fine. USB ports are functioning fine. Never had this problem before, had this thing since like 2014. What am I doing wrong? It was working just this morning.

  • Hey Collin,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having trouble with that! Lets first make sure that the hardware is sending MIDI data to your computer. We can verify whether your TFP is sending MIDI data with MIDI monitoring software. A MIDI monitor will show you all the incoming data from any MIDI controllers or MIDI interfaces that you have connected to your computer.

For testing MIDI devices on PC:
    Download MIDI-OX

This video will get you set up quickly for MIDI input monitoring in MIDI-OX:

Select the TFP as a MIDI input source in the monitor and send some data with its pads and controllers. If you see data appear in the input monitor window, the TFP is sending MIDI data to your computer and should be able to send data to Arsenal as well. Make sure you do not have the TFP selected as a MIDI controller in a different software if you are using standalone Arsenal. If you are running Arsenal as a plugin in a DAW, you will not have access to the I/O Settings menu as Arsenal will use your DAW's MIDI input configuration. Have you tried using the TFP as a controller in both standalone Arsenal and Arsenal as a plugin in a DAW?

I would recommend doing some connectivity troubleshooting as well. Try connecting the TFP with a different USB cable, with different USB ports on your computer, and with a different computer to see if you can reproduce the same behavior. Be sure to connect directly to the computer via USB and avoid using any USB hubs or adapters.

If you're still having some trouble, try uninstalling and reinstalling Arsenal. You can download the software from your account on the M-Audio website as long as the TFP is registered in the account.

Try that and let me know how it works out!
