How to split CODE 61?

Hello, can anyone tell me how to split this keyboard to 2 zones? I play with sound module Roland JV 1010 and i need piano on the left side and brass on the right side. In preset editor i choose ZONE4 c4-c6, but when i press the button ALL keys play trumpets. I need two different sounds from ONE sound module, is it possible??

  • Hey Vava Ka,

    Thanks for posting!

It sounds like you're nearly there! If you want to play two different instruments on your module, use two zones assigned to different MIDI channels - one for each instrument. After you assign the range of keys for each zone (ex. C4-C6), the last steps are to assign individual channels to those zones and assign the piano and brass voices on the Roland to those channels.

For example, let's say zone 1 will handle piano and zone 2 will handle brass.

    Piano:

    1. Assign zone 1 to MIDI channel 1.

    2. Assign the piano voice to receive MIDI data on MIDI channel 1.

    Brass:

    1. Assign zone 2 to MIDI channel 2.

    2. Assign the brass voice to receive MIDI data on MIDI channel 2.

Press the Zone button on the Code to enable zones. Press both the zone 1 and 2 buttons simultaneously to enable them. At this point the Zone button, and zone 1 and 2 buttons on the Code will be illuminated. The key range for zone 1 will play the piano, the key range for zone 2 will play the brass.

I hope that helps you! Let me know if you have any questions.
