increasing distorted sound in cubase with delta1010lt

Hi,and sorry for my bad english.
I have problems with m audio 1010lt cards(using two).I just bought a new pc,and have peaks and distorted sound in cubase 5,i tried also cubase 7elements,and it has the same problem.I am using win 7 64bit,with latest m audio driver installed (6.0.8.),and try everything, but those distorted sound won't go away. The thing is that when i start program everything works fine(except that i have little hum on input channels on cubase mixer, but not on mixer in m audio driver) ,During the time sound distorts more, and more until it become unbearable.I close program, run it again, everything works fine, and then after some time distortion starts again.I think that i have hardware problem, because i try to put new system on pc,try to increase buffer size, try to put system on different hard drives, try it without any plug in etc...and still distortion won't go away. Here are my pc components:
motherboard-ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0
proccesor-AMD FX 8350
ram-HyperX 8GB FURY DDR3 1866MHz
power-COOLERMASTER B700 v2 RS700-ACABB1-EU
Hard drive-seagate 1 tb sshd+wd 500gb(i tried to put system on both,problem won't disappear)
The only thing that i have on my mind, and not checked yet , is the ram memory-1866mhz,and the mother board says it support 1333mhz,i don't know if this could be a problem
Please, if anyone know the answer, notice me

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting.

The first place to look here is buffer size, though it seems you have already looked into that. What buffer size did you end up at?

Are these big sessions that you are running in Cubase? Have you tried testing with a small or blank session without adding too many plugins? Everything has a limit and I want to make sure that you're not just reaching that.

Try taking out one of the cards and see if it does the same thing. We can't rule out a hardware problem until we can test the cards with a different PC, so if you have the opportunity to do so, I would certainly recommend this.

I tried diferent buffer size, from 256 to 4000,even more, problem is the same,i only have bigger latency, but that's normal when buffer is increased.
Projects are different, some are big,and some are small, with only two channels.Problem is the same,i even try to open new project, and put only one wave file inside,i still got increased distortion.

Like i said, when i open files everything is ok,and everything run perfectly, but during the time distortion just get bigger and bigger, and it is happening when i record,or just playback, problem is on both ways.I tried aslo without any plug in,it is the same.Because of that i think that is hardware problem(cpu, ram or some conflict between components of pc).

Than you for a tip,I will try to remove one card, and see if problem got solved. One thing i didn't try aslo, and that is 32-bit system.I will try that also(even it will work only with 4gb of ram)

Thank you again, and sorry for my spelling and bad english errors.
I'll let you know what happened.

  • One more thing is that i used those two cards for 5 yeras, and never had the problem with them, they worked perfecty on my last pc, winxp 32bit,which was three times weaker than this one,so i don't think that is card problem, but i will try to remove them and put on that old pc.

  • You were right!!

I remove one card, and everything worked like it supose to work.No glitches, distortion,no nothing.I try to switch cards, just to make sure that the other one isn't problem, and the other one worked just fine.I also try to switch palces in PCI slots and put them back together, but problem occurred again.

So conclusion is that i have issue running them both.Do you have any idea how to solve this?Somethimes i need 14 analog inputs for recording sessions. One more thing, is that I have two pci slots on motherboard. Some friend told me to try put the cards with one slot empty between them, but it is impossible.

  • Thanks for the update! Now we know it's most likely sync related.

Do you have the cards synced at all? They will still need to be synced together with a S/PDIF cable or wordclock.

If that does work, try switching the cards around with the other set as master.

  • And now i feel like...Cards was(i thought so)synced through world clock,i connected them like it should, but somehow i forgot to put other card in device settings to world clock, both was on internal.
It is not clear to me yet how i forgot to do that, and believe me it has past three,or more weeks as i was trying to solve this problem, and it never occurred to me that i didn't do the basic thing, sync them in device manager.
Just one click in device manager, and problem was solved.
Sorry for wasting your time, and many thanks for replying.
Again, sorry for wasting your time, and keep up the good work!
    Thanks!
