  • Hi,

Sorry you are having trouble with that.

Usually, this might happen when upgrading your OS or adding other midi devices to your setup. It can typically be resolved by just re-configuring your Midi Studio:

It never hurts to try different USB cables and ports as well, even test with a different computer to make sure that it's still working.

Let me know how it goes!

  • No. unfortunately did not work. Still does not show up in midi setup. I am using the same cable as before the upgrade. I upgraded from 10.9 to 10.11. In 10.9 I had to use a driver for the keyboard to work. M-audio usb midi support. in 10.11 I removed this driver via the uninstall option (but also tried re-installing this driver but it said it failed because no software could be found(?) I really need this to work. My son loves playing this keyboard. thanks

  • addendum. Just installed driver on a machine running 10.8.5 and keyboard showed up and worked fine on that machine.

Is there any way I can trick the driver installer to install on 10.11?

  • El Capitan has been causing a lot of problems like this and one of the reasons why the company recommends against customers updating right away.

I'm not sure what drivers you have been installing, but the only thing that is properly supported for this keyboard is the use of the Core midi drivers built into your Mac OS. If the drivers weren't designed specifically for the device and the OS they will not install properly and may not work properly with your device.

If you needed to install drivers in 10.8.5 to get this keyboard to work, that tells me the drivers may be missing and you will want to contact Apply support for further assistance with this. It's good to know that the keyboard is at least working properly, though.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Well, isn't that your driver?

    M-Audio USB MIDI Support
    Version 3.2.2 Build 1-- Thu Feb 2 14:16:44 CST 2006

Please read these notes carefully before proceeding.

We suggest running with Mac OS X version 10.2.8, or Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or newer.

You are about to install or upgrade software which may have several effects on your M-Audio USB devices. The software will:

    • provide improved support for MIDI on the following devices:
    • Yes, that is our driver though I'm not sure why it was included with this class compliant keyboard.

My guess is this is similar enough to the class-compliant Core-Midi drivers the keyboard would normally use that this was able to work in it's place for a previous OS. Either way, this driver is almost 10 years old and not designed for this OS, so I'm not surprised it won't install. That's bound to happen eventually.

It's even possible that uninstalling it uninstalled the drivers the keyboard should be using. This still would mean that you need the Core-Midi drivers for OS X installed which is something Apple Support should be able to assist with.

  • same problem...brand new mini w/el capitan...keystation 61 (original)...spent hours on the internet...nothing...emailed and spoke w/M-aud...they say its CC...spoke w/3 different people at apple...usb tree sees it, it works, tried different cables and ports, but doesn't show up on audio midi setup...tried the drivers listed for 10.8...tried to instal and it said there was not a program in the installer...didn't seem like M-aud is going to make a driver...apple said it was up to them because CC still means they need a driver........hope they come up w/something soon but....I happened to have an original midisport 2x2...installed the unsupported drivers and it showed up...added a new device in a/m setup and connected...it actually worked...!!!! wanted to tell you right away since I've spent hours on this problem...not very ecstatic about M-aud right now...they generally make great products though

  • Now that I know you are both referring to the original, legacy Keystation series, I can say that this product will not be updated for support on OSX 10.11. The device has been discontinued for some time now, when the company was owned by Avid or even before that, and has not been updated for the last few mac operating systems.

Please only use the device on a supported OS or via MIDI interface as Brian had mentioned.
