keystation 61 stopped working suddenly

hi, I've a keystation 61mk2 bought 2 years ago, working with ipad-garage band; last week the keyboard stopped working while connected to the ipad; the 2 leds became red; on the pad there was a message that the item connected had a too high power request so I tried connecting the ac adapter to the keyboard but no improvement, i tried the reset through the keys without result, is there anything I can do to fix the problem? thanks

  • Hey maurizio,

Sorry you're having trouble with your Keystation!

Have you tried testing the Keystation with a computer to see if you can replicate the same behavior? We can verify that your Keystation is sending MIDI data to your computer with MIDI monitoring software. A MIDI monitor will show you all the incoming data from any MIDI controllers or MIDI interfaces that you have connected to your computer.

For testing MIDI devices on PC:
    MIDI-OX

This video will get you set up quickly for Input Monitoring in MIDI-OX:
    Monitoring MIDI Input with MIDI-OX

For testing MIDI devices on Mac:
    snoize: MIDI Monitor

If you try that and you are not able to select the Keystation as a MIDI input source, try using a different USB cable, different USB ports, and even a different computer to test. If you are still unable to connect, it sounds like this may be relative to the hardware itself. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Make sure to reference or link to this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hello Maurizio,

Hope you got this issue fixed by now. I had the same problem 15 min ago until I figuared out the solution. Make sure you have all 3.0 cables and devices. You can do a little extra and make sure each device has it own power source if an option on the device itself. I have a live chat button if you need any assistence: https://www.nerovisum.com
