Keystation 88es midi cuts out

I have an M-Audio Keystation 88es, which I have connected to a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.11.6
The MIDI cuts out frequently, between every few seconds up to a minute. It needs to be reconnected each time. The problem is often accompanied by certain notes having a sustain effect added to them. I have tried with different USB ports and different cables. What can I do to fix this problem?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting!

    What software are you using?

Start by disconnecting other gear and creating a new MIDI configuration in your Audio/MIDI setup:

Also, avoid any USB hubs while testing (just in case).

Let me know how this goes!

  • Hi Corey,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I am using Garageband. But I have noticed, using MIDI Monitor software, that the keyboard is cutting out every few seconds whether or not I have Garageband open.
The keyboard appears in my MIDI Studio. It does not disappear or become greyed out when it disconnects. To reconnect, I either switch the keyboard off and on again, or click Rescan MIDI in MIDI Studio. Neither technique works every time – sometimes it needs to be done several times.
Also, I'm not using any other USB ports.
Do you have any other suggestions?
    Michael
