M-Audio 2x2 Hanging on windows 10

Hey there,
I just bought an M-Audio 2x2, and I've been having issues with the driver stalling / hanging on windows 10, as well, it has caused a bsod.

I'm still within the purchase timeframe to return it, and unless I can get a prompt answer I will have to do so, which is a shame because I like the look and feel of this product.

The driver works fine for a little bit. and if I disconnect / reconnect. the sound driver re-initializes and works for about half a day, before it locks up again.

There's clearly either a problem with this device, or the drivers. Is there a timeframe for a fix, or should I just return this for another product (likely not maudio at this point), if you have a fix, I'm happy to stay, but I would like an answer asap as my time to return is limited. thanks.

  • Hi Cynex,

    Thanks for posting!

You'll have to be more specific. This is not a common problem with the driver.

What's telling you that the driver is the problem here?

What do you mean when you say it "locks up"?

Do you have the latest Win 10 update installed? Can you provide system specs? Have you ever upgraded the components of this computer or installed anything in the computer yourself?

Not that you can't do that, but most BSODs are related to incompatible or malfunctioning systems components (bad RAM a lot) and we notice this happening more often on systems where users took the initiative to upgrade or change components on their own. The M-Track would be called out in the BSOD simply because it was the trigger, but not necessarily the problem.

Also, if you haven't already, test with a different computer.

Let me know and I'll be happy to help troubleshoot!

  • Machine is windows 10, with no driver conflicts or issues prior. This is the first time I saw a BSOD on this machine. I am very confident this is not a pre-existing issue.

Installed the latest driver from your site, as well as all the latest windows 10 updates....

what I mean by locks up....I mean the sound driver stalls, meaning no sound is playing...anything that tries to use sound (audio or video) will not play until I disconnect and reconnect the device.

It doesn't sound like this is all that uncommon after searching google.

By the sounds of it, you don't have any solutions for me to try. shame, I really liked this device, but I don't have time to troubleshoot it (I only have a few days left to return it)...and I am not confident we can workaround this in that time. I just need working sound.
