M-Audio Accent digital piano sustain pedal works, unless I am working in Studio One 3

M-Audio M-Track Quad interface
M-Audio Accent digital piano
Studio One 3 Pro and Sonar Platinum DAWs
Windows 10 64bit
Addictive Keys and Ivory II

The sustain pedal with my Accent digital piano works perfectly on the piano alone, and in Sonar Platinum. It just doesn't carry through with Studio One 3. Even listening to the piano speakers while trying to drive any instrument on S1, I can hear the sustain working at the keyboard. Just not at the DAW. It plays normally, minus sustain.

How can you get the pedal data to be recognized at the DAW? There are no drivers for this device. Studio One doesn't even see it as an instrument because it's not on their list of controllers.

    Hi Steve,

Sorry you are having trouble with that.

Make sure that you have created a "New Keyboard" for the Accent in Studio One 3 and the input/output ports are assigned to the Accent.

Other than that, you'll want to look for any possible filters in Studio One that may be filtering it out. It's very possible that the Pro version may have something like this.

If you haven't already, I would contact Presonus and they should be able to point you in the right direction. As long as this is working fine with Sonar, it seems like the keyboard is working and sending the data just fine.

Let me know if you have more questions!

  • Thank you, Corey, for the reply.

Input on the "New Keyboard" can only be set to None or M-Track Quad MIDI. The keyboard itself is not even recognized, there is no driver for it and the name is not an option as far as S1 is concerned. Output, likewise, can be None, M-Track Quad MIDI, or various Windows midi setups.

It's been fruitless so far in trying to get an answer from PreSonus, but will continue to try.

  • My PC doesn't recognize this instrument via USB. Without a driver, I don't believe it ever will. Maybe there is a way to trigger the computer to see it that I am just unaware of.

I heard back from PreSonus a short while ago. They suggested I uncheck Sustain Pedal in the instrument setup. There is no parameter for Sustain Pedal, or I would have thought of this possibility. :) However, there are four other parameters I did have checked: Aftertouch, Program Changes, Pitch bend, and Controllers. Unchecking them made it work, finally.

I would guess maybe Controllers would be the switch, but that isn't as important as just making it work.
