M-Audio Code 61 and Mainstage 3 - Can't use drum pads independently

Hi guys!

I use my M-Audio Code61 a lot live and want to utilise the drum pads more, adding a kit in at the patch level so that the pads are the same drum kit the whole time I'm using the keys as... whatever sound they're going to be, but I just cant seem to get it to work!

From my reading and attempting, it looks like i need to split the keyboard into 2 channels, which I achieved using the M-Audio Preset editor, but I can't get mainstage to read it. The light flashes when i hat the pad so it's connected fine, but the sound won't trigger.

I've looked at tons of different tutorials and nothing seems to work!

I'm normally pretty good at working stuff out but this has be really stumped!

Anyone know how I can sort it?

Thanks so much in advance

    Hey Dave,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble! You can use the pads to control a different instrument than the keys by changing the MIDI channels. For instance, try putting your pads on MIDI channel 2 and the keys on MIDI channel 1. Now in Mainstage, set the drum track to receive on MIDI channel 2 and your key instrument to receive on MIDI channel 1. This will allow you to play two different instruments simultaneously from the Code.

Try this and let me know how it goes!
