M-Audio Code 61 - Fader Issues

Hello,
I noticed the Fader 8 is moving by itself and Fader 9 is moving when I manually move the Fader 7. This issue happens only when i use Mainstage and Ableton.
The knobs I need to turn many times to reach 127. Is it normal?

Have you see this issue before?

I have performed the Factory Reset, but the issue remains.
Do you recommend any clean of the faders?

  • Hey Raphael,

    Thanks for posting!

If you find that you need to turn the encoder knobs several times before reaching the end of a parameter, it sounds like the knobs might be set to use a lower velocity curve. There are 4 velocity curves available for the Code's encoder knobs - OFF (OF), Curve 1 (C1), Curve 2 (C2), and Curve 3 (C3). Try using Curves 2 or 3 and see how the parameters in the software react. To change the curve of the encoders, do the following:

    1. Press the Edit button on the Code

    2. Press the key representing Mackie/HUI and Curve until you see ECrV__ (where __ represents the curve values mentioned above)

    3. Select the curve you want to use and press the key representing Enter to keep the change you made

Can you tell me more about the faders? A fader will only affect multiple parameters if it is assigned to multiple parameters so check your MIDI assignments and ensure that every fader is mapped to its own individual parameter.

As far as the fader that is sending MIDI data by itself, we should test the Code with a MIDI monitor to see if the controller is sending data without your input. A MIDI monitor will show you all the incoming data from any MIDI controllers or MIDI interfaces that you have connected to your computer.

For testing MIDI devices on Mac:
    Download snoize: MIDI Monitor

Select the Code as a MIDI input source in the monitor and send some data with its keys and controllers to verify that it is sending data to the monitor. If you see data appear in the input monitor window, the controller is properly configured for MIDI input. Clear that data from the monitor and leave the controller alone for a bit. Observe the input monitor window to determine whether MIDI data appears in the window by itself.

Try it and let me know how that works out!

  • Hello, thank you for prompt response.
About the Knobs I have increased the Encoder velocity and it is very good now.

Regarding the Fader, please find a picture and video showing the Fader all way up, but it is not recching 127, only 84 and sometimes it reaches 5-30.

  • Hello There,
I have implemented the recommendation in the topic below and the issue disappeared. I'm very happy with this solution taken this morning at home. I'm passing this information to some friends with similar issues in Brazil.
    God Bless You!

  • Hey Raphael,

Happy to hear that! Enjoy using your Code and let me know if you have any questions going forward!
