M-Audio M-Track 2x2 Huge Problem! Not enough ASIO outputs available. At least 2 channels are needed. / This device cannot start. (Code 10)!!

Hello M-Audio

I am trying to figure out my problem for 2 weeks now about 4 hours a day and i can't stand it anymore.

So i bought the M-Track 2x2 on thomann and that wen't well. I had windows 10 that time and after installing the correct drivers i could use the audio interface without any problems. After a while when i wanted to use my audio interface in my Daw ( fl studio 12.5 ) there comes the first error that goes:

error: Not enough ASIO outputs available. At least 2 channels are needed.

I went researching on google but nothing would work!
i've tried:
Reistalling the driver
Installing older driver version's
Other computer
Changing the driver dll!
using different usb outputs
etc etc etc

After all that i got VERY frustrated and decided to reinstall windows! wich i think is very unussual to fix a product.
After i instsalled windows 7 64Bit SP1. I downloaded all the driver's again, but i wouldn't believe my eyes after i tried to open Fl studio. THE SAME FUCKING ERROR!
my whole windows wouldn't recognize the device. Ive tried everything again i called above, with no succes. I also tried manually downloading the driver but there comes the seccond error
error 2: This device cannot start. (Code 10)

So nothing is working now.... Ain't seeing the device at the playback section of windows etc.
My interface give's blue lights tho!

PLEASE do some! ive noticed i'm not the only one with this problem! fix your stuff then sell it!
I hope you will find the correct fix, because the product itself looks good! don't want to return it...

  • Hey Alex,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having trouble with your M-Track! It sounds like the driver is installed but the service itself has not started. Let's ensure that you have the correct driver installed before we proceed - this is the driver you should be using with a Windows 7 machine:

    M-Audio - M-Track 2X2 Driver - Windows

After we've ensured that the proper driver is installed, you can start the service manually by opening the Services utility on your computer (you can use your computer's search to open this easily). Once you have Services opened, scroll to the M-Track's driver in the list and select Start the service like in the image below:

When the service has been started, applications will be able to access the driver to use the M-Track as an audio I/O device.

With regard to the message you were receiving from FL, it sounds like there was an application that was already accessing the driver (meaning the M-Track was already being used by another application that handles audio) and preventing FL from using it. Ensure that neither your system nor another application is using the M-Track's driver when you launch FL. See this article by Image-Line (the developer of FL) for more information regarding the error message you're receiving:

Image-Line - Not Enough ASIO Output Channels Available

Try the steps in the guide above and let me know what the results are!

  • Hello Nick D,

    Thank you for responding!
I've tried installing the driver from the link you've sended.
At the services i got the options to restart or stop the service,
wich means it was already running.
I restarted the service but nothing changed.

    Any other options?

    Thanks, Alex de Jong

  • Hey Alex,

Sorry you're still having trouble! Let's try setting up your M-Track as an audio device with another DAW and see if we can reproduce the same behavior.

Your M-Track comes with a license for Cubase LE 8. Let's set that up and see how it goes. Check the knowledge base article below for the setup instructions.

Try that out and let me know how it goes!
