M-Audio M-Track Low Input Volume on Max Gain

so i have an M-Audio M-Track for years now and been recording using it but for 1 year + i stopped using it for recording instead been using it for gaming , and i just noticed recently that i never get enough power through my MIC (AT2020) also tested on my other mic at2021, i have to crank up the gain to max to be able to get a signal on Adobe Audition and when i look at the audio interface DB meter it just stays at the -20 line (when i tap the back of the mic it reaches that 0dB point but when i speak to it , it just stays at -20db) and that on max gain, i have my phantom power on as always, i thought at 1st it was just a bad XLR cable so i bought a new one few days ago , still the problem persists , tested it on my pc which has an i5-4670k @4.0ghz , msi z97i ac motherboard , 8 gigabytes of ddr3 ram and a thermaltake smart se 730w power supply , also tested on my MSI GE70 laptop.any fix for this? and what is causing the problem ? ps. also tried different usb cables. Thank you very much

  • Hey kimkelvin,

Sorry you're having trouble with your M-Track. Are both inputs giving you the same symptom? Since you have already tested another microphone and different USB cabling with the same results, we can rule out the microphone or connection. If the gain must be set to its maximum and you're still getting a very weak signal, it sounds like it could be hardware related.
