M-Audio Oxygen MK IV Disconnection Problem

Hello, I’ve recently bought a M-Audio Oxygen 61 MK4 controller and I have some issues with it.

I use it with Cakewalk by Bandlab (the new free version of Sonar Platinum) and the computer randomly stops receving input from the controller, usualy after a few minutes and it happens usualy after a popping sound from speakers. The display of the controller is still working and the pads react with light when I press them so I think the problem is somewhere between the computer and the controller.

After the connection goes down, I cannot see any key input in the computer in MIDI-OX or any other standalone plugin.

To be able to use the controller again I always have to turn off the DAW (Cakewalk by Bandlab) then switch off the controller and then back on and then open again the DAW.

I use the controller with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (1st gen) and Windows 10 on an Asus Republic of Gamers Laptop with Intel Core i7 7700HQ(7th generation) with 8Gb of RAM.

Can someone help me with this problem?

  • Hey Adrian,

    Thanks for posting!

I see you've already tested with a MIDI monitor so next we should test the actual hardware to see if we can consistently reproduce the same behavior.

Try connecting the Oxygen with a different USB cable, with different USB ports on your computer, and to a different computer to see if you can reproduce the same behavior. Be sure to connect directly to the computer via USB and avoid using any USB hubs or adapters. You may also want to check the USB power settings on the computer you're currently using to ensure that the port itself is not affecting the Oxygen's USB connection.

If you try the steps listed above and you are still having some trouble with the controller, this sounds like it may be hardware related. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Make sure to reference or link to this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
