m audio prokeys 61 not responding

My m audio prokeys 61 es won't work with my macbook. Whenever I connect the usb the power led starts flashing. My macbook is a pro from late 2013 with a 2 ghz intel i7 and 8 gigs of ram. According to the m audio website there are no drivers and it should be plug and play. Whenever I connect one of my school keyboards into my macbook it works fine. Also when I look at the system report on my macbook the prokeys does not pop up under the USB tab. Any idea how to fix this?

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

Indeed, the Prokeys 61 is "class-compliant", aka plug and play. If another plug and play keyboard was working, that would point to a hardware issue on the Prokeys, but testing it on another computer would be a more definitive test (if possible).

Take a look at the steps in this post:

Also, here is a free MIDI monitoring software you can use to test if the Prokeys is recognized or not:

    Mac: MIDI Monitor

Open MIDI Monitor with all other programs closed. In the "Sources" section, check the boxes for your controller's ports.
Now MIDI Monitor will list all incoming MIDI Messages. This will help confirm if the controller itself is responding properly or recognized at all.

Beyond this, it would likely be something hardware related. In that case, I'd recommend contacting the tech support team to see what service/repair options might be available. Here is the contact info:
