M-Audio Trigger Finger Pro

My Trigger Finger was working perfectly when i first got it and then out of nowhere one day Pad #13 just stayed on. It lights up orange as if its active when it's not and it affects the other pads. If i hit another pad it caused 13 to trigger as well. Any help with this?

  • Whether or not your unit is still under manufacturer warranty, I'd call Customer Support to request assistance in testing it while on the phone with them, before taking the next step: asking them for RETURN AUTHORIZATION procedure info for needed shipment and repair.

FYI, the device pictured is not M-Audio's "Trigger Finger" (which is a decade-old product) but rather, you have Trigger Finger Pro.

Be sure to say so, when speaking with Customer Support.

  • Does Pad #13 stay lit in that way, even when TFP is switched over to some other PRESET(S)?

At first I was curious about the possibility that the unit simply has Pad 13 set to a different LED color, giving the mere impression that pad is depressed.

Next, I'm curious about the possibility some excessive pressure (or moisture?) applied to that pad, caused it to get quirky.

Does repeatedly punching it with a bit of brute force "beat it into submission"?

What happens when you hit the "PAD" Mode button, then press PAD 13, and arbitrarily tinker with various settings?

If this anomoly with Pad 13 occurs only while TFP is connected to Arsensl or your DAW, maybe a MIDI note is stuck? If in your DAW, try unplugging the USB MIDI cable, then reattaching it.

Finally, I hope you have been utilizing a decent surge protector on your host computer, that's rated at a minimum of 1800 joules for voltage surges -- andvif your unit is old, replace it.

And if you've got TFP powered separately, via an AC "wall wart" adaptor, it ought to be of the proper output voltage, current capacity (in milliamps) *and* correct DC voltage polarity, so as to not damage your Trigger Finger Pro.

Those are some thoughts to get you started before calling Customer Support.

Whenever I turn on my TFP Pad #13 is already orange as if it's activated. It has to be a MIDI note stuck like you said or something. I'm going to open my DAW and unattach the USB and reattach it and see if that works. I have my TFP plugged into a surge protector (wall wart as you say) but I haven't checked the joules or anything. But from the looks of the surge protector it's pretty old. As far as moisture I'm 100% sure it doesn't have any. It goes back to blue sometimes by flickering but only to return back to orange. I've tried banging on it but it goes blue for a few seconds then back to orange. In "Pad" mode it looks as if Pad 13 is going haywire lol

If a recent purchase your retailer just might swap it out, if they have an extended warranty program included with your purchase.

Sounds like a hardware defect to me. Get Support. Be well!

  • Thanks, TFP Noob!

It does sound like your product may need to be serviced. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum but our Tech Support team should be able to sort this out for you if you'd like. Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks Corey! I have already submitted my warranty claim by E-mail along with the receipt and other credentials a few hours ago or else I would have attached this thread to it. If it's needed can I still attach it somehow or you guys can see my ticket and just apply it? Nonetheless I am looking forward to a new trigger finger pro so I can get back to work! Thanks!
