M-Track 2x2M - No Midi Out Signal without daw - No Midi standalone mode?

Hi, i recently bought a M-Track 2x2M. The interface is connected to my MacBookPro (Late 2010 - High Sierra) and everything works fine, except some Clicks, i have to turn the volume down until they disappear. On every other USB-Audio solution i never had this problem. But i think i can handle this...

My main problem is the fact that i wanted to use the MIDI-In/Out also in Standalone-Mode of the interface, means: i have a Arturia Keystep connected to the MIDI-In and want to use my Nord Lead 2x Rack via the MIDI-Out for DAWless jamming. MIDI-In signals are recognized but a not routed to the MIDI-Out. In LogicProX everything works as it should. Is there no MIDI-standalone-mode possible?

  • Hey DjIn Go,

    Thanks for posting!

The MIDI In will be received by the interface but will not be routed to the MIDI Out port in standalone. This is because the MIDI Out dis a discrete port and needs to be designated within your DAW.

In regards to the clicks, what is your audio buffer and sample rate set at? Have you tried adjusting either?

  • Hi Eliza,

thanks a lot for your reply. I found an easy solution for my problem. Sometimes you miss the obvious... - I've connected the Arturia Keystep directly via MIDI IN/OUT with the Nord Lead and i still can control Softsynths in Logic via USB-MIDI from the Keystep. So for now, i left the M-Track out of my MIDI-setup.

I run the M-Track with 96Khz and in Logic i use a buffer of 512 Samples. The weird thing is that i even have clicks on the finder, when i play usual mp3-files that never caused a problem because they are all below 0 db. But i can definitely overdrive the sound - i have to turn the volume on the M-Track down. This never occured to me with any other USB-Audio solution.... hmmm....

  • Hey DjIn Go,

Happy to hear that you resolved the routing issue! For the clicks, I recommend lowering your sample rate to 44.1kHz. 96kHz requires a lot of processing power and can cause pops/clicks even on simple media players. These little distortions are signs that the CPU is working too hard to stream audio. If you lower the rate, the digital artifacts should clear up.

Let me know if you have any questions!
