I’m frustrated

M Track 8 recording/volume issues

So when recording my synth in stereo I get an unwanted minor volume fluctuation almost as if it was panning or oscillating from the left to right speaker and back. I’ve tried different patches, different synths and different DAWs to no avail. I’m getting quite frustrated because other then this my studio is fully ready to record the album I’ve been working on. Please help!

  • Hey Benjamin,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having some trouble with that! Thanks for testing the hardware with different input sources - that helps rule out the possibility of your synth being responsible for the changes in volume via an LFO or something of that nature.

Do you experience the same behavior with the other inputs on the M-Track? Have you tried checking the cabling you're using so you can rule that out?

Have you tried monitoring the input signal going directly into the M-Track by turning the Direct/USB knob toward Direct? Setting this knob toward Direct will make it so the input signal is routed directly to the main and headphone outputs rather than producing the audio being processed by your computer. Do you hear the same fluctuation in volume with the Direct signal?

If you have tried that and you're still experiencing fluctuations in volume, this sounds like it could be relative to the M-Track hardware itself. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Make sure to reference or link to this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
