M-Track (MKII) in CUBASE 6.5 (Noise in Input Channel)

Hello, I just bought an M-Track (MKII) and I'm working with CUBASE 6.5.5 for a while. The issue is that the M-track seams to be sending some kind of signal (noise) that overtakes the input channel dynamic range, somehow like clipping all the way through regardless having an instrument connected or not to the M-Track. I have tried with Garageband, and it works (no noise, no ASIO problems) but with CUBASE 6.5.5 not. Therefore should not be a hardware problem either with the USB port or the unit.

I am sending a screenshot with the signal problem. Maybe I,m missing some extra configuration but to be sure here is what is set up:
1) M-Track connected directly via USB Port to a MacBook Pro OS 10.9.5
2) CUBASE 6.5.5 at 32 bit
3) Device setup-->ASIO driver M-Track-->Sample rate 44.100 kHz-->Buffer size 512 latency
4) VST Connections-->Input-->two mono channels-->output 1 stereo channel

I will appreciate if someone can help me on this issue. Many thanks

  • Hi Rudolf,

    Sorry to hear you are having trouble with this.

    This is very strange, but good to know that it is not a hardware problem. Or at least does not seem that way. It's still good measure to try different USB cables or ports, just to be safe.

    I assume it will do the same thing with the second input as well? Do you have any plugins on those input tracks?

    Have you tested Cubase with a second interface? I can't rule out Cubase as the culprit here yet, so this would be good to know.

    Will this happen in 64 bit Cubase?

    The M-Track does not require any drivers for Mac OS, so if you have installed any other drivers, make sure to uninstall these. Make sure you do not have phantom power turned on. Try adjusting your VST Audio System Advanced Settings. Turn Multi-processing and ASIO-Guard on/off.

    I notice that you also have Chrome and Spotify open, will this happen with only Cubase open? If the M-Track is set as your default soundcard for your Mac, try changing this to your built in soundcard.

    I hope some of this will help. Let me know what happens!

  • Hi, thank you for such a quick answer!

    I solved The problem. Since I am using Cubase 6.5.5 I went to Steinberg knowledge base. What users experiencing this issue should do, and please is better to refer to Steinberg site, is to download the Asio-bundle2 from the site. Once on the computer, the same but older file should be deleted. Then,place the new downloaded file in the exact same folder as the errased one. I was surprised that this solved the issue right away!

    Now the unit works fine!
    All the best
