M-Track USB cord

Hi all...the M-track plus USB cord is extremely short,can I use any USB cord with this...Is that just a fuse in line on the Original cord?

    Thanks for posting.

    You can use any USB cable with the same connector types (technically referred to as "type A to type B"). Any one you get at an electronics store will do.

    Be wary of excessive cable length, though. I think the USB standard spec says the cables can go up to about 16ft (5 meters), but in my experience, once you get over 8ft the signal becomes less reliable, especially if the device is getting its power from the USB cable like the M-Track does.

    Recently I tried to get a long cable to move one of my recording hard drives into a nearby closet (to isolate the fan noise), but with cables that were longer than around 8ft the hard drive was not detected by the computer.
