M-Track vs M-Track II

I was interested in the M-Track, but most online dealers are out of stock and say the M-Track II is the replacement. From what I can see the new version is missing MIDI. I really like the features of the M-Track. What's now comparable?

    Hi,

    Thanks for posting!

You may want to wait just a little bit longer for the M-Track 2x2m. This one has all of the same features, with MIDI i/o and USB C support, as well as an updated design:

    M-Track 2x2m

They're not available just yet, but a lot of retailers appear to be taking pre-orders so check with your favorite retailer for availability.

My son just gave me his M-Audio Fast Track Pro 4x4. He used it very little. I just updated to the latest drivers and firmware to bring it up to date and now it doesn't work at all. I've tried everything and it's as good as a paper weight now. I went online and found a bunch of angry people in a forum with the same issues. They were advised to send the unit in for a $100 repair to another company that acquired this model. That's absurd. Also the support number provided is out of order. I still have the box to send this one back if it needs to be tested or looked at.

Here's my question... I need an audio interface that works, so is M-Audio going to be able to help replace this one? I'm in the market now to buy but can't justify paying full price for M-Audio device after the companies last soft/hardware update destroyed mine.

Sorry you had trouble with that.

The thing is, the Fast Track has always been an AVID product. AVID, aka the company that makes Pro Tools, was the previous owner of M-Audio until they sold it in 2012 to us, inMusicBrands. When they did that, they chose to retain ownership of the Fast Track Series among some other products. That's why all the posts here on the M-Audio forum direct users to AVID.

So although, I would like to assist with those cases, I just don't have any information on the product. No firmware or drivers. No access to development info. Our repair teams don't have schematics or parts, etc. You get the picture.

It's not that M-Audio is refusing support, it's because AVID chose to retain the option to support and continue the product line. The products might as well say AVID on them instead of M-Audio.

So after all of that, only AVID would be able to guarantee the service of the product or not. Instead of using the phone number (must have been from an older post), just check their support page here for the latest contact info:

    www.avid.com/support

That should have an updated number.

I would contact them first because there may be a resolution besides sending it in for repair.

Let me know if you have more questions! I'll be happy to help!
