Mac Os X doesn't recognize brand new Keystation 49 MK3 midi keyboard

I have Mac Os X 10.9.5

I just got this midi keyboard and followed all the installation instructions but my computer won't recognize it at all, in any app. When connected, with the brand new USB cable it came with, it doesn't light up, and doesn't appear in MIDI Studio/Audio MIDI Setup, Logic, Garageband, or Pro Tools which I just installed.

I've done some research and am wondering if there's a problem to do with the driver, but the installation instructions that came with the keyboard don't say anything about installing a driver, and when I check the M-Audio site it says "There are currently no drivers available for this product and operating system."

Does this mean that this keyboard just isn't compatible with my computer/operating system?

  • Hey Jamie,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. The Keystation 49 MK3 is class compliant and does not require an additional driver for the macOS. From your description it sounds like there may be an issue with the USB cable or USB ports. Since the controller is not receiving power, it's possible that the USB cable is not fully seated or is damaged.

I would suggest connecting the Keystation with a different USB cable and testing all USB ports on your computer. If you are unable to power the controller, try using a different computer if possible.

If you try this and are still having trouble, it may be hardware related. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
