midisport anniversary 2x2 won't work with Cubase 9

I have a midisport anniversary 2x2 which I purchased recently and it won't work with Cubase 9. I have the latest driver 6.1.3 (x64).It works fine in Cubase 8.5

Can anyone help?

It's not very good if I can't use it in a major DAW like Cubase.

Would NOT suggest use the Midisport drivers, specially not on Windows 10.
Just use the standard Windows drivers. See my posts in this forum on windows 10 how to check for and remove the MidiSport drivers.

  • Hey Greg,

    Thanks for posting!

The MIDISPORT 2x2 Anniversary Edition is supported for use on the Windows OS from Windows XP (SP3) to Windows 10. It sounds like it is transferring MIDI data to your computer as you are able to use it with one of the versions of Cubase you're working with. We can test the MIDISPORT's connectivity further with MIDI monitoring software. A MIDI monitor will show you all the incoming data from any MIDI controllers or MIDI interfaces that you have connected to your computer.

For testing MIDI devices on PC:
    MIDI-OX

This video will get you set up quickly for Input Monitoring in MIDI-OX:
    Monitoring MIDI Input with MIDI-OX

Select the MIDISPORT as a MIDI input source in the MIDI monitor and use your controller to send note and control data. Does data populate the input monitor window? If it does, your MIDISPORT is transferring data to your computer properly. Take a look at the way you have set up the MIDISPORT as a MIDI input device in Cubase and verify that the settings you're using in 9 match the settings you're using in 8.5.

There are a few different drivers available for this interface. I see you are using this driver already. It sounds like you're using a Windows OS since you're working with driver version 6.1.3 - depending on the version of Windows you are using, you can also try this driver:

    M-Audio MIDISPORT 2x2 Anniversary Edition Driver v6.1.2

I hope this is helpful to you! If you are still having trouble, you could certainly take a look at Happy's posts to see if they will help you resolve the issue. Thanks for sharing, Happy!

  • Hi Nick,

Thanks for the reply. I am using windows 10 OS. I have tried to install the driver from the link above v6.1.2 but I get a run time error! I can't point Cubase 9 to the midisport 2x2 because Cubase doesn't even see it. It seems I'm not the only one with this problem looking at the Cubase forum but I can't find any solutions

  • Hi Nick and Happy,

I have just tried what Happy say above and it's worked. I have basically uninstalled the m-audio drivers and not installed anything else and it Cubase 9 now sees it. Bizarre solution but at least my problem is sorted.

  • Hey Greg,

I'm glad you've made progress with that and I would also like to say that I appreciate the feedback! I will forward this information to the M-Audio team regarding functionality with Windows 10.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Thanks again, Happy!
