MIDISPORT 4x4 Anniversary light blinks in sync with keys for only 10 seconds...

... then communication ceases. I tried a different cable and the same happened. MIDI-OX does not detect any attached devices. The leads are 2.5 metres long (and cheap!) and I thought that might be part of the problem!?! Any ideas?

Windows Update updated drivers current version is 5.10.0.5141 on Win 7 64-bit attached to a Yamaha psr E323

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting. I'd be happy to help!

The MIDISPORT Anniversary models do not specifically require the drivers to operate. Let's try removing them, in case they're conflicting with other drivers or devices. You can do this from the Add or Remove Programs menu. Restart your computer after.

Try disconnecting any other USB devices that are connected (mouse or keyboard is okay). Also try different USB ports (use ports of back of computer if you have a desktop).

Let me know if this helps!

  • No real help. The Device Manager sees the 4x4 attached but Midi-Ox does not. Device Manager adds a small yellow triangle to say that the 4x4 is not working properly once the drivers have been uninstalled. USBDeview also sees the 4x4 but says it is not attached (how can that be if it can see it?)

At one point the MIDI out lights flashed in sync with the musical keyboard but now fails to do so.

  • Okay, so a couple possibilities. It could be hardware related, which would be confirmed if these same symptoms occurred on another computer. If you have access to another machine, try it there with MIDI-OX (or MIDI Monitor if you're on a Mac).

Since the MIDISPORT Anniv is class-compliant, it uses drivers built into the Windows installation. It's possible those drivers are gone or corrupted. This would normally require a call to Microsoft, but I've managed to get a hold of the replacement files.

    Windows 7 INF/PNF Files

Download the "INF and PNF" files from the link above. There are instructions included for where to install/copy them. Reset the computer after that. Make sure to follow those instructions closely, as these are important Windows system files.

Let me know if this helps and if you have the opportunity to test on another computer. Thanks for the effort!
