Multie instances of Arsenal in Ableton Live

How can you get TFP pads to switch to multiple instances of Arsenal in Ableton live ? Every time I open a second Arsenal the pads stick on the last instance. I've put the mouse over the Arsenal logo changed it blue in both and the faders and nobs and buttons switch but the pad bank is always stuck on the most resent opened Arsenal VST so if I open drums first get a loop going and another Arsenal for bass I can't go back to the drum one and if I open another say keys or something pads are stuck on that now even after I close it ?

  • Hello Tim,

    Thanks for posting. Good question!

Ableton will default to play whichever track is "Armed" (the red button on each channel).

The best way to integrate multiple Arsenal instances (or even other virtual instruments you want to respond to the TFP sequencer) is to set each track to a different MIDI channel within Live.

For each Arsenal track in Live, assign a different MIDI channel in the "MIDI From" section (just below the clip launch area).

On the TFP, you can assign each pad/sample to not only a different MIDI note, but also a different MIDI channel.

    1) Press the PAD button.
    2) Press the button below the TFP screen for "MAPPING". The four banks will appear with their assignments (probably defaulted all to "Arsenal")
    3) Either use the knobs to toggle specific banks to "MIDI", or press the button for "TOGGLE ALL"
    4) Press the button for EXIT
    5) Press EDIT PADS
    6) Press MORE
    7) Hit the pad you want to program and turn the knob assigned for "MIDI-CH" to a certain number (this is what will correspond with the MIDI channels you setup in Live).
    8) Repeat for the other pads

This way you can build a preset on the TFP that controls any number of separate instrument tracks in Live (most other DAWs can work with this way too).

    Hope this helps!
