No power into m-audio m-track with powered USB Hub/Ipad setup

Trying to run ipad through my m-audio m-track. Works great through laptop. I got a powered USB hub (5v) and ran it in-between the ipad (with camera kit) and m-audio, but I'm not getting power to the m-audio. Saw a youtube video with same setup and worked, except it was a m-audio fast track. Ideas of why there's no power, or how to resolve issue? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you

  • Hello Jason,

    Thanks for the post!

The M-Track series doesn't officially support iOS connection, particularly because Apple iOS devices don't provide enough power.

The M-Track's are "class-compliant" aka "plug and play", so normally all that's required is the powered hub. However, connecting things in the right order is the key.

Connect the M-Track to the powered hub, the powered hub to AC power, then make sure you connect the Apple Camera Connection cable to the iPad last. If you don't connect it last, the iPad may not recognize devices on the hub properly. Also, you need to have an Apple Camera Connection kit. 3rd party adapters usually won't work.

If you're still having trouble, it may just be incompatibility with the powered hub and the iOS devices or something similar.

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi Dan,

Excellent advice and response, thank you so much. My camera kit is an off-brand, I will try an Apple version and if that doesn't work go a different route. (The connection order didn't work, so I'll assume it's the brand).

Thank you so much for the assistance!
