Oxygen 49 MKIV in Logic Pro X setup

My M-Audio Oxygen49 MKIV is acting strange. I am having trouble using the controls as and the keyboard and I am running Logic Pro X.

When I go to control surfaces --> Setup, I can see the Oxygen 49 there. My problem is - I can use the keyboard and hear it through a software instrument when the input port is selected to (unused), however the stop, play, record controls will not work, even when the auto button is selected on the midi.

When I select the input port to be Oxygen 49, the controller buttons (stop, play, record) work but I cannot hear anything when trying to play through a software instrument.

I must have messed something up because just yesterday I had it set up where I could hear the the audio from software instruments playing the keys and use the controller buttons when on auto.

Please help me!

  • Hey Ryan,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having trouble with your Oxygen! You've had it working prior to this so It sounds like you're just in need of a little configuration within Logic itself. First, let's remove the Oxygen as a control surface from Logic. To do this, open the Control Surfaces menu, highlight the Oxygen and select delete from the Edit drop down menu. Logic should remove the Oxygen as a control surface. This article is relative to another control surface but will help you with the process of removing a control surface:

Logic Pro X Reset Control Surfaces

Next, we will ensure that the DirectLink personality file for Logic Pro X is installed on your computer. You can download the DirectLink file here:

M-Audio Oxygen series DirectLink personality files

Once you have the above file installed, toggling the Auto button will allow you to control Logic's transport control and assign the faders and knobs to their respective parameters.

I hope this helps you! Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Suddenly, Im having a similar issue.

Ive been using my Oxygen 49 IV with Logic as a MIDI controller and control surface for a few months now with no problems.

Spontaneously it has developed this same issue.

Control surface works fine but instruments don't respond to note keys
Tried reinstalling the DirectLink personality file > no change
Reset the device, unplugged, rebooted, tried different cables, etc > no change
Tested in another DAW (Reaper) > everything works as intended
IF I go to Control Surfaces > Bypass All Control Surfaces NOTES WORK, but obviously the CS doesn't.
If i re-enable the control surface, note keys no longer respond.

MIDIMonitor shows proper data being received from the controller.

    Any ideas?
