I’m frustrated

Oxygen 61 IV DirectLink not working as advertised

I purchased an Oxygen 61 IV yesterday, DirectLink does not work as advertised for Logic Pro X.

If the input port is set to 'Oxygen 61' I can use the transport controls, faders, knobs and buttons as expected but not play the keyboard.
If the input port is set to 'Any' I can play the keyboard but the other controls don't work.

I've tried deleting preferences, rebuilding defaults, dragging the .bundle file from elsewhere but nothing makes it work as expected, can anyone help? If not I'll be returning the keyboard and buying something else. And yes, 'auto' is engaged.

It works properly in Logic Pro 9 but that's not of much use to me.

Additionally when using Ableton Live 10 the 'cycle' button on the Oxygen plays the current scene instead of activating loop.

It seems impossible to get a proper support ticket, despite registering the product it's no where to be found. I've wasted all day on this and am not at all happy with m-audio as a result.

    Hey Dom,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble. The DirectLink file is outdated so it's possible that the functions will not match exactly. My advice would be to use Logic's Controller Assignments window to map transport controls to Logic. This guide will get you starting with MIDI Mapping in Logic:

The Logic Pros: How to control anything in Logic using your hardware MIDI controller

  • Hi Eliza,

    Thanks for your response.

So why is m-audio selling outdated keyboards that don't work as advertised?

I've been using Logic for 15 years so know how to map MIDI. Not only would the keyboard become less useful this way but new MIDI mappings are wiped on closing (presumably because of DirectLink imposing it's upon restart).
Further to this there's no way to send toggle rather than momentary messages via the buttons so it's impossible to control Ableton Live's transport.

It's a poor product which is advertised falsely, I'll be returning it today.
