Oxygen25 sends random numbers on CC#9. Any idea why?

Hi, I have an Oxygen25 that seems to be sending random values on CC#9 all the time. Normally, it doesn't affect my workflow, but those messages do get recorded when I'm working with MIDI, and sometimes it will change things on plugins, affecting their functions. Any idea as to why that may be happening?

  • Hi Jay,

    Thanks for posting.

Can you confirm that this will show up on a midi monitor?

    Windows: MIDI-OX

Open MIDI-OX with all other programs closed. In the Options>MIDI Devices section, select your controller ports from the MIDI Input menu. Click OK.
Now MIDI-OX will simply list all incoming MIDI messages. This will help confirm if the controller itself is responding properly.

    Mac: MIDI Monitor

Open MIDI Monitor with all other programs closed. In the "Sources" section, check the boxes for your controller's ports.
Now MIDI Monitor will list all incoming MIDI Messages. This will help confirm if the controller itself is responding properly.

We want to narrow this down and make sure that the message is definitely coming from the keyboard. Make sure to unplug any other midi devices, test with different software, USB cables, etc.

Also, sometimes resetting to factory settings can help resolve this:

Hold down the + and - buttons while powering the keyboard on

Hope this helps! Let me know what happens!

Yes, the message is definitely coming from the controller, because I have no other MIDI devices connected, other than the Oxygen25. I can see the message number listed on the "Event List Editor" on my DAW (Sonar X3), and also, I can see the controller's display flicker (go crazy, showing different values) every time that happens. And it happens often, although, not all the time. Right now it's pretty quiet, but I'm not making music now. It seems to get worse when I'm actually working on something. I have tried it on several PC's, with different cables and different software. And yes, I have also used "reset", and it's the same.

  • I’m happy
Hey! I reset it, and it seems to have stopped!
I did that in the past, however, and it stopped for a while, then it started doing it again. It may have been something I did, although I don't remember doing anything.
Well. it seems to be working now. If it happens again, I'll probably bother you, again.

    Thanks!

  • No, sorry, I "spoke" too soon (sad). It's still doing it. Any other ideas?

  • Hi Jay,

    Thanks for the update.

Unfortunately, if you can confirm this happens with different computers, USB cables, and software than it's most likely a problem with the hardware. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction. Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
