I’m Let Down

Oxygen61 Incompatible with Logic Pro X?

I'm the owner of an M-Audio Oxygen 61. I am running on a Macbook Pro (15-inch, Mid-2012), OS X El Capitain Version 10.11.1. I got 16GB of RAM and a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. The DAW I use is Logic Pro X Version 10.2.0.

My Oxygen controller, that I just bought, works fine with Pro Tools, Sibelius, GarageBand, and even MainStage. However everytime Logic opens the controller sends out a bunch of SysEx messages, then messages saying "Channel 112 - 0", followed by the controller freezing with the number 0 on the display. The controller works great and I'd love to use it but it simply crashes every time I try and run it on Logic. I'd also like to reassure myself that I didn't waste money on this product. Truly a great keyboard. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Logic Pro, I've restarted my computer multible times, and I've tried different USB cables. The Model oxygen I have is blue and has the mod + pitch wheels on top. Please help.

  • Hi Jake,

Sorry you are having trouble with that.

I have never heard of this happening before. How do you know the controller is sending a sysex message? Are you opening a blank Logic session? What preset are you using on the Oxygen?

Basically, Logic would need to be sending something strange to the Oxygen on startup. That is the only reason why the Oxygen would notice that Logic is even open and respond differently than how it does in Pro Tools. I have no idea what this message would be or how to get it to stop, but Apple Support may be able to sort that out for you. I don't see how this could be a hardware problem with the board.

Because Logic would utilize your Midi Studio for all incoming/outgoing midi, my recommendation would be to unplug any unnecessary USB midi devices and create a new configuration here:

You'll also want to delete any IAC bus channels that may have been created as well.

    Hope this helps!
