I’m frustrated

Plug-in ID conflict with Garageband and Logic with Oxygen49 Directlink

After installing the Oxygen49 driver Directlink Garageband now gives me a popup that says
Plug In ID conflict
Control surface plug-in “Oxygen for GarageBand” has an ID conflict with plug-in “Oxygen for Logic”. They use the same ID.
Please contact the plug-in manufacturers and Apple.

I looked around on the internet and tried troubleshooting they said the solution was to go into the application folder of Garageband and Logic to deleting the Oxygen bundle, but it wasn't there to begin with! And now I can't use Directlink on either program.

Would really appreciate some direction, It's been very frustrating and I'm worried my version of Garageband is now compromised.

  • Hey Seymour,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having some trouble with that! Adding a control surface map to your DAW will not prevent you from using the DAW so you don't need to worry about GarageBand. That software and Logic are both developed by Apple and probably share a good amount of similarities as Logic could be considered a more advanced version of GarageBand. The Oxygen.bundle file should be installed to the MIDI Device Plugins folder but if you're not seeing it there, I would recommend starting by checking Logic's Control Surfaces menu and deleting the Oxygen from that menu then restarting Logic:

If that does not resolve, you can also try deleting the .plist file for GarageBand which will reset the application's preferences. After completing both of those steps, there should be no instance of DirectLink for Oxygen on your computer. This Apple article will help you locate that file for GarageBand:

GarageBand for Mac: GarageBand preferences overview

When you've done that, you can reinstall DirectLink for Logic and you should be set to use the Oxygen to control transport, faders, etc.

    I hope that helps you!

  • Deleteing the Control Surface Oxygen device did not change anything and neither there is no bundle file to delete either.

Also , I checked under my Library/Preferences and there is no such .plist file you spoke of.

Still getting the warning after deleting and reinstalling Garageband.

    Any other advice?
