Sterling SP50 doesn't work with M-Track

I have a Sterling SP50 mic and Windows 8.1 laptop. I have spent the last 5 days trying to get the microphone to work and it just won't. Sterling says it needs phantom power, but I thought the M-Audio M-Track had the power built in. Can you walk me through it like I'm a 5 year old? Thanks!

  • Hello Becky,

    Thanks for posting.

Do you have the original M-Track or the M-Track MKII?

Both modelscan supply "+48V" phantom power; a switch on the older one and a button on the newer one.

Try testing with the "MONITOR" knob turned all the way to the left on "DIRECT". This will listen right to the M-Track's input rather than from the software, so we can best narrow down the source of the trouble.

Also, what DAW software are you using the M-Track with? Let me know as many details of your system that you can and we'll get to the bottom of it!
