  • Hey Jeff,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry you're having some trouble with that! Let's verify whether your Code is sending MIDI data to your computer with MIDI monitoring software. A MIDI monitor will show you all the incoming data from any MIDI controllers or MIDI interfaces that you have connected to your computer.

For testing MIDI devices on PC:
    Download MIDI-OX

This video will get you set up quickly for MIDI input monitoring in MIDI-OX:
    Monitoring MIDI Input with MIDI-OX

For testing MIDI devices on Mac:
    Download snoize: MIDI Monitor

Select the Code as a MIDI input source in the monitor and send some data with its keys and controllers. First, try without the sustain pedal. Do any notes stick? For each note input, you should see a Note On message for as long as you are holding a note and a Note Off message when you release the keys. If everything looks good, try using the sustain pedal and test for any notes that are sticking even after toggling the sustain pedal off.

If the data you see in the input monitor window matches what you are inputting, the controller is sending MIDI data to your computer and may need to be configured for MIDI input in the software you're using. Please refer to your software's documentation for more information regarding software setup.

If the Code is not sending MIDI data to the monitor, let's test the connection between the controller and the computer. Try connecting the controller with a different USB cable, with different USB ports on your computer, and with a different computer to see if you can reproduce the same behavior. Be sure to connect directly to the computer via USB and avoid using any USB hubs or adapters.

If you try that and you are having difficulty entering note data into your computer correctly, this sounds like it may be hardware related. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Make sure to reference or link to this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • I’m using a midi cable from midi output of the code , and there was a note off not there for the sustain problem, then another odd thing happened , I was playing organ , and then all notes ceased , no stuck notes , just all sending ceased ( I have a midi monitor), and nothing was coming out at all. If I turn on panic mode on the 61, it hangs up on that and you can’t get out of it, until I turn the code off/on. I just bought it so I can return it, and they’ll get me another. It’s a chain called Long and McQuade, I’ve never had it cease with my other controller, an sl88 from studiologic

  • I just got the 49es version from Guitar Center and am about to take it back, but before I do, maybe you can help. One note (I believe it was an E) kept hanging up and I had to tap it again to stop the note from playing (this was without a sustain pedal plugged in). Later I was recording with the sustain pedal plugged in and when the sustain pedal was released it, even though I could hear the notes, the DAW (Reaper) didn't record them from that point on. I tested it multiple times and finally had to unplug the pedal and I had no problem with recording. FYI - I'm not using a USB hub.
