SYSEX towards oxygen mk4 does not work

I have an oxygen 61 mk4, sysex memory dumps work but according to the manual sending this file back to the oxygen should restore the included settings and display "SYS" when receiving - nothing seems to happen?

  • Hi Phillipe,

Sorry you are having trouble with that.

This sounds like it may be hardware related. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • My problem is I can't get the keyboard to initiate the memory dump.

I have just bought an Oxygen 61 MkIv (Jan 2018) and the only thing I can't get to work is the sysex (memory dump). I press the edit button (which works fine for all other functions I've tried), and when I press the 'Mem Dump' key (C), the keyboard seems to exit edit mode (exit light extinguishes). I thought it might just be too quick for me to see anything in display (supposed to say 'sys'), but it doesn't out put any data out to the two different DAWS (on different computers).

Is there anything else I have to press to get the keyboard to perform a memory dump? Or is there a code I can send to it from the DAW to 'request' a memory dump from the keyboard?

Next step (I haven't tried yet), is to restore factory settings. I've got it working really well and I'll have to write down all the controller changes I've made - the whole reason I wanted to store these in a memory dump :-(

Is there anything else to press on keyboard?
Or is there a sysex request code I can send to it from the DAW?

  • I bought an Oxygen 49 Mk IV a week ago (Februray 2018) and I am
able to send, but not to receive a SysEx Mem Dump.

I saved a mem dump with SONAR Platinum as well as with MIDI-OX,
and both show the same DATA with a file-length of 2970 bytes.

SONAR is sending as well as MIDI-OX, but no SYS-Message appears in
Oxygen and after that the configuration hasn't changed.

I updated to firmware 1.0.1 and restored factory settings a few times,
    but the problem still occures.

So, do I have to do something to put Oxygen in a state ready
to receive the SysEx DATA - in the manual I can't find a hint to that.

    Many thanks in advance.

  • I'm experiencing exactly the same issue, that Christian described above. Also Oxygen 49 Mk IV Firmware 1.0.1.

Saving mem-dumps works as described in https://m-audio.com/kb/article/2060 step1-3 resulting in a 2970 byte file.

However restoring a .syx file to the device has no effect. "SYS" does not appear on the display.

  • Is there perhaps a custom sysex sequence that has to be pre-fixed to the mem-dump?

  • I got a reply in March, saying this would be submitted as a bug. I haven't heard anything about whether a firmware update has been developed that overcomes this problem? See the reply below, from just after I bought my Oxygen 61 Mark IV

    Hello Gary,

I apologize for the delay. I did some extensive testing and I believe this may be a bug with the Oxygen controller. I was able to successfully send a Memory Dump, butI was not able to send a dump back to the controller through multiple software. It might require a firmware update. I’ll submit a bug report to our M-Audio team regarding this.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.
